  • Publication number: 20140336928
Abstract: A system and method of automated civil infrastructure metrology for inspection, analysis, and information modeling utilizes an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped with a position tracking system and digital cameras to capture a plurality of images of a structure to be inspected. The UAV is flown in a scan pattern around the structure while continually capturing images of the structure while position and orientation data is also recorded and linked for each of the images. Image processing and pattern recognition software algorithms are used to analyze the images and create an information model of the structure which is then used to carry out a virtual inspection of the structure in a three dimensional software environment.

  • Patent number: 8306747
Abstract: A mobile platform, sensors mounted on the mobile platform, computers, data storage devices, power system, data acquisition hardware, and software form a Travel Way Measurement System. The mobile platform with sensors mounted within and upon it, moves along a surface travel way and records data to determine an accurate location and geometry of the travel way surface, surface features, transverse profile and features along side the travel way surface, structures, signs, and other features above the travel way surface, and utilities, pavement thickness and properties, pavement condition, and bridge deck properties and condition below the travel way surface. The mobile platform and sensors can travel and collect data at up to 60 miles per hour or more. The data acquisition hardware and software protocols permit the synchronization of all the sensor outputs in the temporal and spatial domain or in any other domain resulting from numerical transformation of sensor outputs.

  • Publication number: 20110099335
Abstract: In a transactional memory technique, hardware serves simply to optimize the performance of transactions that are controlled fundamentally by software. The hardware support reduces the overhead of common TM tasks—conflict detection, validation, and data isolation—for common-case bounded transactions. Software control preserves policy flexibility and supports transactions unbounded in space and in time. The hardware includes 1) an alert-on-update mechanism for fast software-controlled conflict detection; and 2) programmable data isolation, allowing potentially conflicting readers and writers to proceed concurrently under software control.

  • Patent number: 7739537
Abstract: A multiple clock domain (MCD) microarchitecture uses a globally-asynchronous, locally-synchronous (GALS) clocking style. In an MCD microprocessor each functional block operates with a separately generated clock, and synchronizing circuits ensure reliable inter-domain communication. Thus, fully synchronous design practices are used in the design of each domain.

  • Patent number: 6965961
Abstract: A queue-based spin lock with timeout allows a thread to obtain contention-free mutual exclusion in fair, FIFO order, or to abandon its attempt and time out. A thread may handshake with other threads to reclaim its queue node immediately (in the absence of preemption), or mark its queue node to allow reclamation by a successor thread.

  • Patent number: 6341339
Abstract: The present invention discloses an apparatus and method for maintaining the coherence of data within a shared memory network including a plurality of nodes. The system utilizes processors monitoring the occurrence of particular processing events within a local memory storage area. Upon the detection of events indicating the change of status of a particular group of data, a comparison is made between a modified copy of the group of data and a clean copy of the group of data to detect any modifications made to the group of data. These modifications are entered into the clean copy of the group of data and processing continues.

  • Patent number: 5607379
Abstract: The weight ring exercise system includes a weight collar rotatably attached to a weightlifting bar. A plurality of progressively larger weight rings are provided. The smaller weight rings are circumscribed in turn by the larger. The smallest weight ring circumscribes the collar. The weight rings are secured to each other and the collar in turn by a bearing seated in a groove on the smaller weight rings and the collar. A plunger is provided to seat and unseat the bearing in the groove.
