  • Patent number: 5982993
Abstract: A method and apparatus for color replacement using an extended ink set in a color printing system. A color replacement apparatus receives a color signal of a device dependent color space after being generated in response to a colorant signal of a device independent color space. The color replacement apparatus receives the color signal of the device dependent color space, and generates as a function of the received signal, a second color signal including a first hue and a first saturation, and a third color signal including the first hue and a second saturation, different from the first saturation. Multiple color planes for all of the inks of the extended ink set are generated according to a preselected threshold.

  • Patent number: 5850237
Abstract: An apparatus and method are described for maintaining the proper operation of an ink recorder having an ink recording head which prints an image on a recording medium by selectively depositing ink drops from a plurality of ink ejectors in response to image data. The ink recorder supports a plurality of performance modes and may be a color image recorder having a plurality of color inks and a plurality of ink ejectors for each color ink. A time period during printing is determined and the number of print drop commands received by each of the plurality of ink ejectors is counted during the time period. A target value for the number of print drop commands received by each ejector is set based on a pre-determined one of the plurality of performance modes, the image data, and a characteristic of each color ink in the case of a color ink recorder.

  • Patent number: 4855203
Abstract: A layered photoresponsive imaging member comprised of a supporting substrate; an amorphous photoconductive layer and a hole transport layer dispersed in a resinous binder, which layer is formulated from a solution mixture; and wherein the photoconductive layer is prepared by a process which comprises dissolving an inorganic photoconductive component in a solvent, removing the suspended particles therefrom, depositing the resulting solution on the supporting substrate, and subsequently heating the aforementioned member.
