  • Patent number: 7293407
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a diesel engine in which an air ratio (?) of the fuel which is to be burnt and of the combustion air supplied is set by a control unit (14) according to predetermined values. When a value (15) which is predetermined as a switching criterion is recorded, the control unit (14) switches to a special operating mode for regeneration of a catalytic converter (22) and sets the fuel/air ratio according to predetermined values for this operating mode. To achieve more effective regeneration of the catalytic converter, according to the invention it is provided that at least one afterinjection, which is separated in time from a main injection, of fuel which is also to be burnt takes place in the special operating mode.

  • Publication number: 20070150154
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas purification system. Intake air throttling is carried out in order to raise an exhaust gas temperature in a low-load mode and in a traction mode. The amount of intake air throttling is determined as function of an expected load demand so that, with an expected unchanged or decreasing load demand, an increased or maximum possible intake air throttling is set. With an expected rising load demand, however, no or reduced intake air throttling is set, and the expected load demand is estimated based on operating and ambient parameters of the internal combustion engine.

  • Publication number: 20070103001
Abstract: A power switch circuit for driving an airbag squib module has a power transistor, a pre-charge capacitance for storing a charge, a charging circuit and a controllable energy-coupling element. The power transistor has a first electrode, a second electrode and a control electrode. A path between the first electrode and the second electrode is connected in series with the airbag squib module between a supply potential and a reference potential. The charging circuit charges the pre-charge capacitance and the charging circuit is therefore coupled with the pre-charged capacitance. The controllable energy coupling element is connected between a first electrode of the pre-charge capacitance and the control electrode of the power transistor. The power switch exhibits a high degree of stability, allows a fast switching of the power transistor and further has an advantageous transient response.

  • Publication number: 20070024254
Abstract: A circuitry comprises a converter means for generating an alternating current signal from an energy from an energy source, a piezo transformer with an input and an output, wherein the input of the piezo transformer is electrically coupled to the converter means, to receive the alternating current signal as an excitation on the input side from the converter means, and wherein the output of the piezo transformer is designed to provide an output current, and a load, which is coupled to the output of the piezo transformer, so that output current flows through the same. The load is designed to convert at least part of the electrical energy supplied by the output current flowing through the load into another form of energy. The load is further designed such that a useful power provided in the form of useful energy is substantially proportional to the output current. The circuitry is designed to adjust the output current to a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20040017400
Abstract: The method for project planning provides a process operating on a computer system that enables project planning information to be displayed and arranged in different display environments. First, the process provides a flexible data arrangement display environment. The data arrangement display enables generating and manipulating data objects in a manner that facilitates creativity, and may include graphically associating the generated data objects with defined categories. In this way, the project planning information may be entered, viewed, and categorized. Second, the process also provides a more traditional project planning environment having task lists, task attributes, and task schedules. The more traditional project planning display enables sophisticated analysis and manipulation of project planning information. By selecting a particular environment, the process converts the project planning information into a form for viewing and manipulation in the selected display.

  • Patent number: 6619033
Abstract: In a method for operating a combustion engine having an exhaust-gas turbocharger, it is possible to switch over between a normal operation and a special operation. In the special operation, at least one main fuel injection and at least one secondary fuel injection are provided. In response to a positive load jump, a switch-over between the normal operation and the special operation provided for increasing the exhaust gas enthalpy is performed, the secondary fuel injection in the special operation being adjusted so that it substantially burns in the combustion chamber and causes an increase in the exhaust gas enthalpy as well as an adjustment of a rich or a lean exhaust gas composition. The method according to the present invention may be used, for example, in a motor vehicle having a diesel engine.

  • Patent number: 6484223
Abstract: The invention relates to a transmitting device and a bus system for the serial data transfer of binary data between at least two communication stations, which are coupled to one another via an individual bus line. The transmitting device of a communication station has a circuit for waveform setting. The circuit for waveform setting generates, from a data signal to be transmitted, an output signal having signal edges which are as far as possible in the form of sinusoidal half-waves. In order to generate the signal edges in the form of sine half-waves, an oscillator, a clock counter and a parallel D/A converter are connected in series one after the other. The output signal at the output of the D/A converter has stepped edges. An optimized output signal having signal edges in the form of sine half-waves can be generated by means of suitable dimensioning of the reference elements of the voltage divider of the D/A converter and also by means of a smoothing filter connected downstream of the D/A converter.

  • Patent number: 6385743
Abstract: The novel method synchronizes an electronic device for monitoring the operation of a microprocessor (watchdog) with the microprocessor when the microprocessor is run up from a quiescent mode to an operating mode. The synchronization is effected by a trigger signal that is transmitted from the microprocessor to the monitoring device and that signals the operational availability of the microprocessor. The monitoring device, in order to receive the trigger signals, temporally toggles between a CLOSED window status, in which a trigger signal cannot be detected by the monitoring device, and an OPEN window status, in which the received trigger signal brings about synchronization between the microprocessor and the monitoring device. The microprocessor watchdog device has a trigger signal input which toggles, in a clocked manner, between a disabled position (CLOSED window) and an enabled position (OPEN window). The trigger signal is received during the OPEN window.
