  • Publication number: 20090087492
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process, for the production of crystalline particles of an active organic compound The process includes the steps of generating a micro-seed by a wet-milling process and subjecting the micro-seed to a crystallization process. The resulting crystalline particles have a mean particle size of less than about 100 ?m. The present invention also provides for a pharmaceutical composition which includes the crystalline particles produced by the method described herein and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

  • Patent number: 5314506
Abstract: Impinging fluid jet streams are used in a continuous crystallization process to achieve high intensity micromixing of fluids so as to form a homogeneous composition prior to the start of nucleation. This process permits direct crystallization of high surface area particles of high purity and stability.

  • Patent number: 4073743
Abstract: A process for preparing a highly stable water-in-oil type emulsion consisting of (a) a disperse aqueous phase; (b) a continuous oil phase containing isomannide monooleate emulsifier and a non-hydrated physiologically acceptable fatty acid metal salt. A particular use of the invention is the preparation of an emulsion adjuvant vaccine, wherein the vaccine is incorporated in the aqueous phase. The emulsion is prepared by mixing the aqueous and oil phases at a relatively low agitator speed, optionally cooling, increasing the speed of agitation to form an emulsion and optionally homogenizing the emulsion.

  • Patent number: 3996018
Abstract: Crystals are grown in a column through which a supersaturated solution flows upwardly while large crystals having one dimension substantially greater than another dimension taken from the bottom of the column are fractured externally of the column and the fractured particles are returned to the upper end of the column where fines are separated from larger seed type particles.
