  • Patent number: 7685905
Abstract: A steering wheel for a motor vehicle includes a skeleton (10) and a rear-side covering part. The skeleton forms a hub (12), at least one spoke (14) and an upper part (16) of a steering wheel rim. The steering wheel also includes a rear-side covering part (18) made of plastic, which at least partially covers a lower area of the central part of the steering wheel and also constitutes a lower part of the steering wheel rim.

  • Publication number: 20050232789
Abstract: The present invention relates to a motor/pump unit, especially for slip-controlled motor vehicle brake systems, including an accommodating member for hydraulically active components, an internal gear pump arranged in a bore of the accommodating member and comprising pump components such as a pinion/internal gear combination arranged between two housing parts, wherein the pump components form a pre-assembled unit, and including a motor for driving the internal gear pump. An object of the invention is to devise a motor/pump unit, which allows a space-saving and low-cost integration of an internal gear pump in an accommodating member. This object is achieved in that the housing parts can be arranged preliminarily by at least one securing element in such a fashion that the final alignment of the housing parts relative to each other takes place when the unit is inserted into the accommodating member.

  • Patent number: 6889576
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing a vehicle steering wheel. The method comprises the following steps: a) a one-piece steering wheel skeleton having a hub, at least one spoke and a steering wheel rim is produced by one of casting and injection-molding, b) an intermediate layer made of soft foam is glued directly onto the steering wheel rim and c) the intermediate layer is covered with leather in that the leather is glued directly onto the intermediate layer. As an alternative working step, a cover consisting of an inner intermediate layer made of soft foam with an outer covering made of leather is glued with an inside directly onto the steering wheel rim. The invention further relates to a vehicle steering wheel produced by one of the methods.

  • Patent number: 5997029
Abstract: An airbag module for motor vehicle steering wheels is proposed, having a gas generator (1), a folded together airbag (2), a dish-like generator support (3), a covering (4) which is connected to the generator support (3) at the edges and has predetermined breaking points (8) and also having a retaining plate (5) for fastening the airbag (2) on the generator support (3), all the elements mentioned forming a one-part structural unit which can be connected to a steering wheel. To be able to adapt the volume inside such an airbag module to various volume requirements, without losing the abutment formed for the covering (4) by the folded together airbag (2), it is proposed that there be arranged between the gas generator (1) and the folded together airbag (2) a displacement element (6, 7) which fills a predetermined proportion of the volume available between the gas generator (1), the generator support (3) and the covering (4) for the folded together airbag (2).

  • Patent number: 5957483
Abstract: A covering for an airbag module accommodated in the door lining and/or in the instrument panel of a vehicle. The covering has a main part of plastic comprising an airbag-attaching component and an airbag-covering component. The airbag-covering component can optionally be covered with expanded plastic. The module has a cover of real or imitation leather. There is at least one area in the form of a flap that can be ripped open in the vicinity of the airbag-covering component. The rip-open area is demarcated by a break-open line, constituted by a weakening of the material and by a hinging line. The covering is characterized by a groove-like outer depression along the break-open line that extends over the whole width of the covering and in that the cover is forced into the depression, doubling the material.
