  • Patent number: 9604724
Abstract: A seating arrangement includes a seat with a seating surface and a top bunk disposed adjacent to the seat. The seat and the top bunk are configurable between a first configuration and a second configuration. In the first configuration, the seat accommodates a user in a seated position and the top bunk is stowed. In the second configuration, the seat and the top bunk form a bunk bed configured to accommodate users in prone positions. In the first configuration, the seating surface is disposed at a first predetermined height. In addition, in the second configuration, the seating surface is disposed at a second predetermined height that is lower than the first predetermined height.

  • Publication number: 20140246886
Abstract: A divan includes a seating surface and a backrest. In a first configuration, the backrest is positioned adjacent to the seating surface to support a person's back while the person is seated on the seating surface. In the first configuration, the seating surface is disposed at a first predetermined height above a horizontal plane. In a second configuration, the backrest establishes an upper bunk above the seating surface. In the second configuration, the seating surface establishes a lower bunk beneath the upper bunk. In the second configuration, the seating surface is disposed at a second predetermined height that is lower than the first predetermined height.

  • Patent number: 5904407
Abstract: An aircraft seat pan assembly to be mounted on an aircraft seat foundation including a pair of spaced side rail supports and a pair of spaced apart cross supports disposed in spanning relating between the side rail supports, the seat pan assembly including a seat panel with a primary surface, a pair of opposite side edges, a front edge, and a rear edge. The side edges and front edge of the seat panel are structured to be secured directly to the side rail supports and a front cross support of the seat foundation in generally planar relation thereto, and a rear edge of the seat panel is structured to be secured to the rear cross support in a generally elevated, spaced apart position there above such that a quantity of a downward spine load exerted on the seat panel will be absorbed at the connection between the rear edge and the rear cross support.
