Patent number: 7609650Abstract: Systems and methods for defining and using a data collection profile in connection with a telecommunications network that includes multiple devices. Initially, a query is defined that concerns one or more aspects of the communications network. The query is then used as a basis for building a data collection profile. Next, a set of target devices is selected based upon criteria relating to the query. The data collection profile is then provided to the target devices which collect data in accordance with the data collection profile. Finally, the collected data is transmitted to a service platform for further processing.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2005Date of Patent: October 27, 2009Assignee: Carrier IQ, Inc.Inventors: Steve Roskowski, David Kolm, Michael P. Ruf, James R. Jaquet, Konstantin Othmer

Publication number: 20090180598Abstract: Managing shared voice messages across the multiple voice messaging systems of the various recipients of a message. A server may act as a gateway and may interact with the multiple voice messaging systems and multiple user devices of the recipients. The server may retrieve voice messages from the sender voice messaging system and may transmit the voice message to the disparate voice messaging systems of the recipients with or without user assistance. The voice messages may be transcoded as necessary. The server then may determine the status of the voice message in the voice messaging systems of the recipients and may update the message status in the sender's and the recipients' voice message systems accordingly.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2008Publication date: July 16, 2009Inventors: Konstantin Othmer, Michael P. Patent number: 7493365Abstract: A chat interface allowing a user to exchange haptic chat messages with other users in a chat session over a computer network. A chat interface can be displayed by a local computer and receives input data from a user of the local computer, such as text characters or speech input. The input data provides an outgoing chat message that can include sent force information. The outgoing chat message is sent to a remote computer that is connected to the local host computer via a computer network. The remote computer can display a chat interface and output a haptic sensation to a user of the remote computer based at least in part on the force information in the outgoing chat message. An incoming message from the remote computer can also be received at the chat interface, which may also include received force information. The incoming chat message is displayed on a display device to the user of the local computer.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2006Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignee: Immersion CorporationInventors: Evan F. Wies, Dean C. Chang, Michael P. Ruf

Publication number: 20080270718Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing data backup of a communication device. Data backup can occur automatically or manually. A data backup status indicator is displayed on the communication device indicating the current status of the data backup. The user can select the data backup status indicator to obtain additional information about the status of the data backup service.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2007Publication date: October 30, 2008Applicant: CORE MOBILITY, INC.Inventors: Carl J. Stocklein, Konstantin Othmer, Michael P. Ruf

Patent number: 7317919Abstract: A communication session between a wireless communication device and one or more recipient communication devices is initiated in response to user input received at a separate computing device. The intended parties of the call are identified at the computing device in response to the user input. Once the intended parties have been identified, the computing device generates and transmits calling instructions to the wireless communication device to instruct the wireless communication device to call the one or more recipient communication devices. This allows a caller to utilize the functionality and resources available on a computer to initiate a call, while enabling the caller to utilize the functionality and resources available on the caller's wireless communication device to engage in and complete the call, without requiring the caller to communicate through the telephony applications of a computer.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2004Date of Patent: January 8, 2008Assignee: Core Mobility, Inc.Inventor: Michael P. Ruf

Publication number: 20070286099Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling user discovery of a service of a communication device. The services of a communications device are tracked or monitored for usage. A service that is unused or undiscovered is identified. Applications associated with the services are also tracked and monitored for usage. When an application is in use and there is an associated service that is unused, a discovery indicator is displayed on the communication device informing the user of the availability of the unused service. The user can select the discovery indicator to obtain additional information about the unused service.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2006Publication date: December 13, 2007Applicant: CORE MOBILITYInventors: Carl J. Stocklein, Konstantin Othmer, Michael P. Ruf

Patent number: 7227930Abstract: Wireless telecommunications systems, methods and devices for processing voice data in connection with a wireless telecommunications system that includes a wireless remote device and a wireless recording device that are configured for communication with a network server. In connection with transmission of voice data from the remote device to the recording device, the recording device obtains information concerning the geographic location of the recording device or the remote device. The recording device accesses recording rules that cross-reference the geographic location of the recording device or the remote device with a corresponding recording statute. The recording device records the conversation if the recording statute indicates that such recording is lawful.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2004Date of Patent: June 5, 2007Assignee: Core Mobility, Inc.Inventors: Konstantin Othmer, Michael P. Patent number: 7016844Abstract: A system and method for providing a transcription service over a network. The transcription service includes a transcription server, a database, and several communication gateways. A transcription request is received by the system from anyone and includes an audio file, transcription instructions are derived by the system from a requestor profile, from preferences submitted with the audio file, or both. The request is then processed by the transcription server, the audio file is transmitted to at least one transcriber for transcription, transcribers receive the audio file, transcribe the file, and send the transcription back to the transcription server. The transcription server processes the file and sends the transcription to the entity that requested the transcription. Transcription accuracy is validated statistically by the system, thereby enabling reliable transcription from unknown transcription nodes. Profiles may be configured for both transcribers and transcription requestors.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2002Date of Patent: March 21, 2006Assignee: Core Mobility, Inc.Inventors: Konstantin Othmer, Michael P. Patent number: 7013155Abstract: A sender can create and send a message that can be delivered to recipients with SMS-enabled wireless stations regardless of the other communication capabilities of the wireless stations and the network or network service providers of the recipients. The sender creates a voice message and sends the message to a message server, which stores the message in an interactive voice response (IVR) system. An SMS notification is sent to the recipient and includes instructions for accessing the voice message from the IVR system. The recipient views the SMS notification and accesses the IVR system. After entering a password or otherwise authenticating the recipient or the recipient wireless station, the recipient retrieves the message from the IVR system. If it is not known whether the recipient has an SMS-enabled wireless station, the message server initiates attempts to send SMS notifications using multiple SMS message generation mechanisms.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2003Date of Patent: March 14, 2006Assignee: Core Mobility, Inc.Inventors: Michael P.
