Abstract: A system for dispensing adhesive onto a surface is provided. This system includes a dispenser and a quantity of discrete units of adhesive releasably deposited on a substrate. The dispenser includes a drive mechanism that further includes an actuator for actuating the dispenser; and a drive wheel, wherein the drive wheel further includes mechanical means for engaging the actuator. An optional supply wheel may be included in the dispenser. The quantity of discrete units of adhesive is releasably deposited on a substrate that may be mounted on the supply wheel or that may simply sit within the dispenser. The substrate further includes means for cooperating with the drive wheel to incrementally advance the substrate a substantially fixed, and predetermined distance upon actuation of the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 7415915
Abstract: A cutting system that includes a rotary blade cartridge that can be interchangeably used with a variety of cutting tools is disclosed. The cartridge houses a rotary blade assembly that is maintained in a secure and safe retracted state and that can be activated when the cartridge is inserted into a cutting tool. Activating a plunger of any of the cutting tools causes a piston of the rotary blade assembly to move the blade to an operative cutting position protruding from an aperture provided in the cartridge housing. Deactivating the plunger causes the blade to be return to its retracted and inoperative position within the housing. Cutting tools of the invention include rail cutters such as a primary workstation and a compact workstation, circle cutters, elliptical cutters, and freeform cutters. Each cutting tool is capable of receiving a rotary blade cartridge. Cartridges are freely interchangeable between the cutting tools.

  • Publication number: 20080185049
Abstract: A fluid supply monitoring system includes a housing, a shutoff valve and a flow sensor positioned downstream from the shutoff valve within the housing. The shutoff valve selectively blocks a fluid flow. The flow sensor is operable to monitor the fluid flow to calculate at least a length of time the fluid flow has flown without interruption, a total volume of the fluid flow that has flown, and a flow rate of the fluid flow.

  • Publication number: 20050188808
Abstract: Cutting apparatus and methods are provided for cutting and trimming of flat materials, the invention incorporating an optical guide means for positioning of the flat material in a desired orientation. A laser device is positioned on a cutter to project a visual indication of the line of cut to be made by the cutting blade, and optionally along other lines such as to show a border or margin. Means are provided to power the laser device, and an optical element is provided to focus an emitted beam onto the cutter base, and any material placed thereon. Additionally the cutter includes a switching means for turning the laser device on and off. The switch can be mounted anywhere on the base or the cutting assembly. The cutter includes a cutting base for supporting the materials to be cut, a cutting blade assembly, and assistive cutting means such as a bottom blade on one edge of the base or a pad cooperating with the cutting blade to cut the flat material.
