  • Patent number: 10794311
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for adjusting a fuel/air ratio of an internal combustion engine (10), comprising a catalyst volume (26) with a first catalyst partial volume (26.1) and a second catalyst partial volume (26.2). The second catalyst partial volume (26.2) is arranged downstream from the first catalyst partial volume (26.1). An actual filling level of an exhaust gas constituent in the catalyst volume (26) is calculated from operating parameters of the internal combustion engine (10) and the exhaust system (14) using a computing model, and is adjusted to a nominal value by modifying the fuel/air ratio. The adjustment is carried out first for the second catalyst partial volume (26.2) and only later for the first catalyst partial volume (26.1).

  • Patent number: 10753259
Abstract: A method and control device for correcting an output signal of an exhaust gas sensor in an exhaust gas conduit of an internal combustion engine, a secondary air delivery system for delivering air into the exhaust gas conduit being associated with the exhaust gas conduit upstream from the exhaust gas sensor in the flow direction of the exhaust gas. During a measurement of the output signal of the exhaust gas sensor, air is delivered to the exhaust gas conduit via the secondary air delivery system during a correction phase by way of which a correction of the output signal of the exhaust gas sensor is derived. In this operating mode, a defined oxygen content exists in the gas mixture surrounding said sensor, so that the output signal can be compared with reference values.

  • Patent number: 10448974
Abstract: Disclosed herein are distraction implants for treating, for example, spinal disorders. The implants can be comprised of a U-shaped elastic member, two bone anchor members and two tension members to couple the components together. Use of the tension members allows for transfer of distraction force without unintended forces in the perpendicular plane and parasitic moments. As there are several options for anchoring to bone, the present implants can be applied to all segments of the spine from the cervical spine to the lumbar regions. The implant can be temporary or permanent, covering indications from fracture treatment to management of chronic disc disorders, including disc protrusion. Use of the present implant and methods of use are also within the scope of the invention.

  • Patent number: 10143504
Abstract: The medial compartment is realigned by adjusting the angle of the ulna so that the head end thereof is properly aligned with the humerus. The angle of the ulna is adjusted by cutting the ulna below the head. A plate is attached to the ulna to set the new angle. The plate has two parts; one part is straight, the other is angled. Different plates have parts with different angles. A plate with a desired angle is selected to achieve the necessary angle on the ulna. The plate may be attached to the medial side or lateral side of the ulna.

  • Publication number: 20170370264
Abstract: In a method and device for controlling and/or monitoring the function of a secondary air supply in an emission control system of an internal combustion engine, the emission control system includes at least two catalytic converters situated in succession in an exhaust duct, it being possible for the second catalytic converter to be implemented as a combination of catalytic converter and particulate filter. For a secondary air diagnosis and for secondary air control, a two-point lambda probe is situated, with respect to a direction of flow of exhaust gas, downstream of the first catalytic converter. Measures are applied for compensating tolerance and aging effects of the two-point lambda probe. This results in particular in cost advantages in emission control systems for fulfilling stricter emission requirements. In particular, this makes it possible to operate the particulate filter in optimized fashion.

  • Publication number: 20170370268
Abstract: In a method and a device for monitoring the operability of an emission control system of an internal combustion engine, at least two catalytic converters are situated in succession in an exhaust duct. For tracking control, breakthrough detection for diagnosing the first catalytic converter, and for a second balancing for the storage capacity of oxygen or rich gas of the second catalytic converter, a two-point lambda probe be used and, for the latter, tolerance and aging effects are compensated. This results in particular in cost advantages in emission control systems for fulfilling stricter emission and diagnostic requirements.

  • Patent number: 8798892
Abstract: A method for the dynamic monitoring of a first lambda probe arranged in an exhaust-gas duct of an internal combustion engine upstream of an exhaust-gas purification system. A period of an output signal of the first lambda probe is determined in a controller of the internal combustion engine, and a lambda regulating signal is determined from an output signal of a second lambda probe connected downstream of the exhaust-gas purification system. A first threshold value for a lengthening of the period of the output signal of the first lambda probe is predefined, in that a characteristic signal (46) is derived from the lambda regulating signal, in that a second threshold value for an inadmissible deviation of the characteristic signal (46) is predefined, and in that an inadmissible asymmetric delay of the first lambda probe is inferred if the lengthening of the period exceeds the first threshold value and the characteristic signal (46) deviates from the second threshold value outside predetermined limits.
