Abstract: A trampoline as provided at its outer periphery with a substantially rigid spotting deck essentially coplanar with the resilient jumping or bouncing surface of the trampoline, and of a width sufficient to provide a place for instructors and/or those waiting to use the trampoline to stand and observe the user. The spotting deck may be covered with a shock absorbing foam covering, or alternatively with a rigid flat support platform, which is then in turn covered with the shock absorbing foam and may be employed on trampolines of any shape, particularly those shapes now commonly in use, e.g., rectangular, octagonal, and circular. The end spotting deck and associated supporting structure are attachable to the side frame members of a rectangular trampoline in place of a normal end structure for such a trampoline.
