Publication number: 20240123362Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to methods, apparatus, and systems for replacing a drive assembly. A system includes a bogie assembly comprising a wheel and a drive assembly configured to drive the wheel to roll on a top surface of a structure. The system further includes a translating cartridge movably mounted to a side surface of the structure. The translating cartridge pivots from a first orientation to a second orientation to couple with the drive assembly and decouple the drive assembly coupled to the translating cartridge from the bogie assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2023Publication date: April 18, 2024Inventors: David Andrew GRIBBIN, JR., Michael David RUSSELL, JR., Harrison Raleigh SMITH, Daniel Roman SWANDO

Publication number: 20160054163Abstract: A tool for metering sauce or other materials comprises a handle and a bowl positioned at a distal end of the handle for holding an amount of the sauce or other material. The bowl defines an open top bounded by a rim, and the bowl includes multiple posts extending from a bottom wall, such that a first predetermined volume is defined by filling the bowl to the rim, and a second predetermined volume is defined by filling the bowl such that upper surfaces of the multiple posts are visible. The bowl may further include two ribs extending from a side wall of the bowl, wherein a third predetermined volume is defined by orienting the tool on its side such that the two ribs effectively define a horizontal plane and filling the bowl up to the horizontal plane between the two ribs.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2015Publication date: February 25, 2016Inventors: Eric Walton, Kevin Murray, Christopher Michael Raleigh, Matthew Allen Kirby, Marco Vincente Lopez

Patent number: 8430036Abstract: A system for firing multiple projectiles in a parallel or diverging manner is provided. The system can comprise tail-end portions of projectiles that add structure to a cartridge, provide for efficient combustion, allow projectiles to transition from a straight configuration in the cartridge to a splayed configuration in a chamber, and ensure complete evacuation of the chamber. The system can include a tail-end portion of a particular projectile with openings that distribute energy from combustion of an ignition charge, facilitating firing of multiple projectiles. A tail-end portion of a projectile can include a ball joint upon which the body portion of the projectile moves causing an angle between the body portion and the tail-end portion. A space can exist in the body portion adjacent to the ball joint to allow off-center shifting of the body portion with respect to the ball joint.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2012Date of Patent: April 30, 2013Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: Mark H. Patent number: 7305912Abstract: An electrothermal gun uses an apparatus for generating high gas pressure. The apparatus includes a receiver having a combustion chamber for holding a propellant which produces a gas component and a particle component when the propellant undergoes an exothermic chemical reaction, and a flow passageway positioned downstream of the combustion chamber. An ignition mechanism causes the propellant contained in the combustion chamber to undergo the exothermic chemical reaction. A separator in the flow passageway substantially separates the particle component from the gas component in the flow passageway. The gun includes a barrel connected to the receiver and communicating with the flow passageway. By substantially stopping the particle component, namely metal oxide, from reaching the barrel, wear on the barrel is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2004Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: BAE Systems Advanced Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Shyke Goldstein, Michael Raleigh, Michael Bohnet, James Galambos, Mark Machina

Patent number: 7218571Abstract: An apparatus and method for magnetically generating an underwater high pressure pulse of sufficient strength to destroy underwater threats utilizes a pair of electrically conductive elements. The electrically conductive elements are arranged substantially parallel with each other and are separated by a gap. A pulse generator supplies an electrical pulse to at least one of the electrically conductive elements, which causes the generation of a magnetic repulsion force between the elements. The magnetic repulsion force causes one the electrically conductive elements to be displaced, thereby inducing a high pressure pulse in the liquid in which the pair of electrically conductive elements is submerged.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2004Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: BAE Systems Advanced Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Michael Raleigh, Yeshayahu Goldstein, James Galambos

Patent number: 7028807Abstract: A non-explosive acoustic source utilizes the combustion of aluminum and water to generate an acoustic pulse. The operation of the non-explosive acoustic source relies on a water/aluminum reaction to generate a burst pressure. The source may be deployed as a single charge or as one element of a multiple charge array and is configurable to explode at variable depths with variable energy levels. The inherent safety of the non-explosive acoustic source obviates the necessity for auxiliary safety features or procedures to protect against inadvertent explosion. As a result, the non-explosive acoustic source facilitates the implementation of sonic detection systems and reduces the operational costs associated with such systems.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2003Date of Patent: April 18, 2006Assignee: BAE Systems Advanced Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Michael Raleigh, James Galambos, Michael Bohnet

Patent number: 5549046Abstract: A plasma generator (44) for an electrothermal gun cartridge has elongated metallic rod and tube members (58,60) extending along a central axis thereof with the tube member (58) having at least one axial gap (62) and with an elongated annular insulator located between and in engagement with both metallic members to provide support therebetween as an electrical voltage generates an electrical arc at the axial gap to provide a plasma that ignites a propellant (46). Different embodiments of the plasma generator have a plurality of the axial gaps (62) located along the tube member (60) and are constructed for both simultaneous and sequential firing with fuses (74) controlling the timing. Helically extending member portions (78) provide rotation of the electrical arc and hence the plasma generated to distribute it for ignition of the propellent (46).Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1994Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Assignee: General Dynamics Land Systems, Inc.Inventors: Melvin M. Patent number: 4586008Abstract: A passive integrator capable of correctly providing outputs with risetimes as short as 250 ps. An outer conductor has coaxially mounted therein a short length of an inner conductor so as to constitute a very low impedance transmission line. The short length and low impedance of this transmission line cause it to behave as a capacitor. Electrostatically shielded resistors are connected to both ends thereof by a center conductor. Compensating capacitors coaxially mounted therewith may be employed.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1983Date of Patent: April 29, 1986Inventor: Michael Raleigh
