Patent number: 10511787Abstract: The invention provides a light-field camera for capturing multiple views of a scene, representing samples of a light-field, having: a primary camera configured for capturing a primary digital two-dimensional image of the scene; a two-dimensional camera array having a plurality of secondary cameras, each of the secondary cameras being configured for capturing a secondary digital two-dimensional image of the scene to produce at least one set of secondary digital two-dimensional images of the scene; a semitransparent mirror arranged such that an incident light beam originating from the scene is split up in a first partial light beam, directed to the primary camera, and a second partial light beam, directed to the camera array; and a processing unit configured for receiving the primary digital two-dimensional image and the at least one set of secondary digital two-dimensional images and configured for computing depth information for the primary digital two-dimensional image or a digital two-dimensional image corrType: GrantFiled: February 11, 2016Date of Patent: December 17, 2019Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.Inventors: Frederik Zilly, Joachim Keinert, Matthias Ziegler, Michael Schoeberl

Patent number: 10152485Abstract: A file system is configured to provide, based on a request from a requester, a requested file stored on a storage medium to the requester. Furthermore, the file system is configured to provide a chosen part of the requested file corresponding to a desired version of the content of the requested file to the requester, based on received side information in the request indicating the desired version, and based on meta information of the requested file.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2015Date of Patent: December 11, 2018Assignee: FRAUNHOFE-GESELLSCHAFT ZUR FOERDERUNG DER ANGEWANDTEN FORSCHUNG E.V.Inventors: Heiko Sparenberg, Siegfried Floessel, Matthias Martin, Michael Schoeberl

Patent number: 8593562Abstract: A refraction at a suitably structured surface for example with an arrangement of the same between image plane and mapping optics is used to realize on the one hand a desired aliasing filtering or spatial low-pass filtering on the image plane wherein on the other hand the manufacturing of such structured surfaces may be realized in a cost-effective way. In addition to that, the plate thickness except for the amplitude of the surface structure and aspects of the stability of the plate is of no importance for handling the same, so that the integration into optical systems is facilitated.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2010Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der Angewandten Forschung E.V.Inventors: Juergen Ernst, Michael Schoeberl, Alexander Oberdoerster

Patent number: 8509549Abstract: Detecting a change between images is performed more effectively when a measure of change is used for the detection that depends on a length of the code blocks to which the images are individually entropy-encoded, and which are allocated to different sections of the respective image, since the length of these code blocks is also available without decoding. This uses the fact that the length or amount of data of a code block directly depends, in large parts, on the entropy and hence on the complexity of the allocated image section, and that changes between images are, with high probability, also reflected in a change of complexity.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2011Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der Angewandten Forschung e.V.Inventors: Michael Schoeberl, André Kaup

Publication number: 20130063622Abstract: A better compromise between the dynamic range, the spatial resolution, the implementation outlay and the image quality is achieved if different subdivisions of the exposure interval into accumulation intervals are performed for different pixel sensors or pixels. In the event of more than one accumulation interval per exposure interval, the values detected in the accumulation intervals are summed to obtain the respective pixel value. Since the exposure effectively continues to take place for all pixels over the entire exposure interval, no impairment of the image quality arises, or no artifacts arise in image movements. All pixels undergo the same image blur on account of the movement. The additional hardware outlay compared with commercially available pixel sensors is either entirely non-existent or can be kept very small, depending on the implementation. Moreover, a reduction in the spatial resolution is not necessary since the pixels contribute equally to the image capturing.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2012Publication date: March 14, 2013Inventors: Michael SCHOEBERL, Andre KAUP
