  • Patent number: 11137056
Abstract: An engine system includes a gearbox assembly that includes a housing having plural interconnected gears disposed between an engine side of the housing and an alternator side of the housing, a rotatable engine coupler connected with the engine side of the housing, the engine coupler configured to engage a rotatable shaft of an engine, and a rotatable alternator coupler connected with the alternator side of the housing, the alternator coupler configured to engage a rotor of a first alternator. The housing is configured to be positioned between the engine and the first alternator. The engine coupler is configured to engage the engine that is resiliently mounted in the powered system and the alternator coupler is configured to engage the first alternator that is rigidly mounted in the powered system to transfer rotation of the shaft of the engine to rotation of the rotor of the first alternator.

  • Patent number: 8364424
Abstract: A system and method are provided to monitor the health of a wind turbine gearbox. The system includes a plurality of sensors coupled to the wind turbine gearbox and a controller coupled to the plurality of sensors. The controller is configured to acquire vibration information from a vibration sensor, acquire a tachometer signal, convert the tachometer signal and the vibration information into a cycle domain signal, and perform an order analysis on the cycle domain signal, the order analysis providing information that identifies potential and actual damage within the wind turbine gearbox.

  • Publication number: 20120043962
Abstract: A method for determining a case depth of a hardened layer in a surface of a metal object includes: (a) placing an eddy current probe at a location adjacent the surface; (b) using the eddy current probe, generating a time-varying eddy current in the object; (c) using the eddy current probe, outputting a measured eddy current and providing a signal representative of the measured eddy current to a computer; (d) using the computer, comparing the time-varying measured eddy current to a correlation of measured eddy currents to known case depths; and (e) determining the case depth at the location of the probe based on the correlation.

  • Publication number: 20120025526
Abstract: A system and method are provided to monitor the health and performance of a wind turbine gearbox. A plurality of sensors coupled to the wind turbine gearbox provide input to a controller. The controller generates output information that includes performance and health information of the wind turbine gearbox based on the input received from each of the sensors.
