  • Publication number: 20240139923
Abstract: A portable linear fastener driving tool is provided that drive staples, nails, or other linearly driven fasteners. The tool uses a gas spring principle, in which a cylinder filled with compressed gas is used to quickly force a piston through a driving stroke movement, while a driver also drives a fastener into a workpiece. The piston/driver is then moved back to its starting position by use of a rotary-to-linear lifter, and the piston again compresses the gas above the piston, thereby preparing the tool for another driving stroke. The driver has protrusions along its edges that contact the lifter, which lifts the driver during a return stroke. A pivotable latch is controlled to move into either an interfering position or a non-interfering position with respect to the driver protrusions, and acts as a safety device, by preventing the driver from making a full driving stroke at an improper time.

  • Publication number: 20070059229
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described for contacting an oxidizing solution such as an aqueous hydrogen peroxide composition of hydrogen peroxide and at least one additive that catalyzes the decomposition of the hydrogen peroxide into hydroxyl radicals with an atmospheric effluent containing odorous and/or noxious components. These components are absorbed by the aqueous hydrogen peroxide composition to produce an atmospheric effluent having reduced amounts of the odorous and/or noxious components. Various methods are described for adding the hydrogen peroxide and the decomposition additive.

  • Publication number: 20050085175
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and compositions for processing poultry feathers. In one embodiment, the method for processing poultry feathers comprises contacting a plurality of poultry feathers having an average particle size with a detergent capable of imparting a static charge to the plurality of poultry feathers; reducing the average particle size of the plurality of poultry feathers; increasing entanglement of the plurality of poultry feathers; adding an anionic polymeric adduct to the plurality of poultry feathers; adding a cationic species to the plurality of poultry feathers; and dewatering the plurality of poultry feathers. In another embodiment, a composition for processing poultry feathers, comprises a detergent capable removing at least a portion of fats and oils from a poultry feather and imparting a static charge to the poultry feather; an antimicrobial compound; an anionic polymeric adduct; and a cationic species.

  • Patent number: 4268628
Abstract: Novel method for the determination of .alpha.-amylase which method comprises contacting a sample suspected of containing .alpha.-amylase with a starch derivative carrying a substituent capable of dyestuff-forming coupling; separating from the resulting starch-containing phase the low molecular weight soluble fission products formed by splitting of said starch derivative by .alpha.-amylase; coupling the said couplable substituent with another dyestuff forming component; and measuring the dyestuff so formed as a measure of the initial .alpha.-amylase content.
