Abstract: In accordance with the invention, a card reader (1) comprising a contacting unit (2) for a card (4) that can be inserted through a card insertion opening (6), comprises on its mounting side (7) a conductor path element (8) that can be bent against the action of an elastic restoring force and comprises two exposed electrical contacts (9a, 9b), and the bendable conductor path element (8) can be bent between its two exposed contacts (9a, 9b) until the two exposed contacts (9a, 9b) abut each other against the action of the elastic restoring force in an electrically conducting fashion.

Abstract: In accordance with the invention, in a card reader (1) comprising a contacting unit (2) for a card (3) that has been inserted through a card insertion opening (5), the contacting unit (2) is disposed in a pocket (6) which is open at the card insertion opening (5) and has a fine-meshed conductor path structure with at least one continuous conductor path (9), and is formed from at least one conductor path foil (7) by mutually overlapping sections, wherein the overlapping sections comprise conductor path ends which are interconnected in an electrically conducting fashion to form the continuous conductor path (9), and wherein one pocket side that forms the bottom (8) of the card reader (1) has a recess (10) for contacting the contacting unit (2).

Abstract: In a card reader (40) with at least two transport rollers (23, 24, 25) for the card (3) arranged one after the other in the card infeed direction, the transport rollers (23, 24, 25) are provided on a pivot arm (21, 22), which can be pivoted against the action of a restoring force in a plane at right angles to the card path, at a distance from the pivot axis (26, 27) of the pivot arm (21, 22). When a transport roller on the pivot arm is deflected by the card thickness of a card that has been fed in, all transport rollers lying further from the pivot axis are also deflected, i.e. pivoted out of the card path, by more than the card thickness.

Abstract: In a card reader comprising a card stop 4 for a card 2 inserted into the card reader, the card stop 4 is rotatable out of the card path about an axis of rotation 6 extending transverse to the card path, and is rotatably coupled to an arm 9 which is deflectable about an axis of rotation 8 extending transverse to the card path and is pretensioned into a pivoting position engaging in the card path in the card inserting direction 3 behind the card stop 4. Insertion of a card deflects the arm against the action of a restoring force from the card path thereby also turning the card stop out of the card path. If a card of insufficient length is stuck in the card reader, it is pushed further by the inserted card and passes the deflected, i.e. effectless, card stop and is discharged from the card reader.
