  • Patent number: 4829905
Abstract: This invention relates to an ICBM warhead including a plurality of warheads wherein at least one warhead includes a plurality of dummy warhead shells having an external configuration matched to the real warhead and a radar image resembling the radar image of the real warhead. The stacks of these dummy warhead shells are attached to one or both extremities of the real warhead in a coaxial relationship thereto and secured together forming a package comprising a plurality of dummy warhead shells and a real warhead, which package includes means for separating the dummy warheads and real warhead from each other after the ICBM warhead is launched into space. The dummy warheads separated from each other and from the real warhead and following essentially the same trajectory as the real warhead, which provide the same radar image as the real warhead, practically make it impossible to identify and intercept the real warhead by overwhelming any star war defense and strategy.

  • Patent number: 4694179
Abstract: This invention relates to a device including a combination of a porous filter and ultraviolet light source, that is for purifying fluid media. The porous filter filtering out particles suspended in the fluid medium and the ultraviolet germicidal lamp killing germs in the fluid medium are arranged in a combination in such a way that the porous filter distributes the fluid flow in a pattern that exposes the fluid medium to the germicidal radiation uniformly and thoroughly, while the ultraviolet germidical light destroys the bacteria and other germs contaminating the fluid medium, and at the same time cleans the porous filter continuously by oxidizing the organic particles clogging the porous filter wherein the oxidizing process utilizes oxygen naturally dissolved in the fluid medium or that artificially injected into the fluid medium.

  • Patent number: 4603595
Abstract: This invention relates to a variable speed mechanical transmission of friction drive type comprising a pair of coaxially disposed stepped conical friction drive surfaces providing a series of conical frustum shell spaces disposed in a stepwise arrangement therebetween. The extensions of the inner and outer conical surfaces constituting each conical frustum shell space have common apex point. Each conical frustum shell space includes a plurality of conical frustum rollers rotatably secured in axisymmetrically distributed positions therewithin wherein the extension of the conical surface of each conical frustum roller has the same apex point as that of the inner and outer conical surfaces confining thereof when said conical frustum rollers are under line contact with both of the inner and outer conical surfaces confining thereof.

  • Patent number: 4593787
Abstract: This invention relates to a rapid emergency escape system from elevated structures such as the fire-escape system from the top of a sky scraper to the ground level, which rapid descending system includes a vertical wire rope securely anchored to an over-hanging structure secured to the desired level of the elevated structure wherein said wire rope branches to at least two wire ropes with the lower ends of each reaching down to the ground level. The lower end of each of the branching wire ropes includes a connecting means and is connected to the free end of each of the horizontal wire ropes wherein each of the horizontal wire ropes is reeled up into two reels immovably secured and widely separated from each other. The reels include braking means for releasing the horizontal wire ropes while maintaining a certain level of the controlled tension on the wire ropes and means for rewinding the wire ropes back into the reels.

  • Patent number: 4582330
Abstract: An annular or linear seal having a substantially K-shaped cross section. The seal with cleft seating surface provides a two-way pressure barrier when it is installed in a groove having a cross section of "sigma" shape, wherein the flat side of the K-shaped cross section of the seal with cleft seating surface is in contact with an interface in a sliding relationship and the concave side opposite to the flat side of K-shaped cross section seats on the convex bottom of the groove with a "sigma"-shaped cross section. Of course, the seal with cleft seating surface may be used as a static seal disposed intermediate two surfaces including no movement therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4574644
Abstract: This invention relates to a positive displacement flow meter or pump comprising a plurality of spherical balls orbitably entrained in a toroidal cavity. The first segment of the toroidal cavity tangentially connecting a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet comprises the flow passage for the fluid being measured or pumped and the second segment provides the return pass for the spherical balls. A rotating magnetic field about the line of axisymmetry of the toroidal cavity generates the orbiting movement of the spherical balls for measuring the flow rate or for pumping.

  • Patent number: 4560986
Abstract: This invention relates to a position indicator wherein the information on the location of a position-sensing target is obtained by measuring and comparing the ohmic resistances of two electric circuits including an arrangement comprising a pair of parallel conducting wires of high ohmic resistance and a sliding contact conductor slidable along the two parallel conducting wires while maintaining an electrically conductive contact to both conducting wires. The relative position of the position-sensing target kinematically linked to the sliding contact conductor intermediate two extremities of the pair of parallel conducting wires is obtained by measuring and comparing the ohmic resistance of the two circuits respectively including the sliding contact conductor and each of two halves of the two parallel conducting wires divided by the sliding contact conductor.

  • Patent number: 4547929
Abstract: This invention relates to a spring biased shifting pivoting center hinge for swinging doors wherein the hinge pin rigidly affixed to the first swinging half of the hinge pivotably and shiftably engages a slotted hole with a spring bias that is included in the second swinging half of the hinge. The spring bias resiliently retains the hinge pin at one extremity of the slotted hole when there is no external constraint as in the case of a fully closed or fully open swinging door fitted flush to the front face of the door frame. When the swinging door is pulled open or pushed shut, the edge of the door adjacent to the hinge interferes with the door frame and the hinge pin is forced to shift toward the other extremity of the slotted hole against the spring bias; whereby, the interference between the door edge adjacent to the hinge and the door frame is alleviated for the full range of the swing for the swinging door.

  • Patent number: 4546792
Abstract: This invention relates to a check valve having a straight-through flow passage wherein a ball-plug of a cylindrical geometry with a hemispherical end is pendulously confined in a cavity included in the valve body. The ball-plug has a through-hole with the central axis substantially passing through the center of a spherical surface including the hemispherical end of the ball-plug, which central axis substantially intersects the central axis of the ball-plug in an oblique angle. The ball-plug is pendulously confined in the cavity within the valve body by a trunnion in such a way that the ball plug is allowed to swing on a plane including the central axis of the flow passage of the check valve passing through the cavity confining the ball plug and the central axis of the ball plug. At one extreme position in the swinging movement, the through-hole included in the ball plug lines-up with the flow passage allowing straight-through flow for the fluid from one extremity to the other extremity of the check valve.
