  • Patent number: 7793588
Abstract: A spray head is provided in which fluid flow is redirected by an insert before the fluid exits a spray nozzle. Specifically, the spray head includes an insert located within its valve body that changes the path of fluid moving through the valve body and spray nozzle cavity, resulting in increased mixing of fluid in the spray nozzle cavity and thus, improved lateral spray distribution when the fluid exits the spray nozzle.

  • Publication number: 20100050890
Abstract: A variable cutoff printing press is provided. The printing press includes a plate cylinder including a first center axis, a plate take-up cylinder including a second center axis and a removable plate having a first length traveling around the plate cylinder and the plate take-up cylinder. The first center axis and the second center axis are separated by a center distance, the center distance being variable so the plate can be removed and replaced with a second plate having a second length. A method of variable cutoff printing is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20080307988
Abstract: A spray bar includes a manifold or multiple manifolds located on the spray bar. More specifically, the spray bar includes one or more manifolds connected to dedicated feed lines each having a spray head, resulting in improved lateral spray distribution.

  • Patent number: 7117788
Abstract: A spray device for a printing press includes a liquid inlet orifice for receiving a liquid, a gas inlet orifice for receiving a gas disposed downstream from the liquid inlet orifice, and an exit orifice disposed at a distance from a surface of the printing press. In addition, a method for applying a liquid to a surface of a printing press, includes the steps of providing a liquid to a liquid inlet orifice of a spray device, providing a gas to a gas inlet orifice of the spray device; and spraying a mixture of the liquid and gas onto the surface of the printing press.

  • Patent number: 6615726
Abstract: A method for identifying a lateral position of a vibrator roll geared to a plate cylinder in a printing press includes the steps of sensing a reference lateral position of a vibrator roll, setting a counter to a setting corresponding to the reference lateral position of the vibrator roll and rotating a plate cylinder. The lateral position of the vibrator roll changes as a result of the rotating of the plate cylinder and the counter changes as a function of the rotating of the plate cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6526888
Abstract: A method for reducing vibrations in a printing press, the printing press having a first plate cylinder independently registrable from a second print cylinder. The method includes the steps of determining a lateral position of the first vibrator, roll with respect to the second vibrator roll and rotating the first plate cylinder with respect to the second plate cylinder so as to change the lateral position of the first vibrator roll with respect to the second vibrator roll. A printing press has a controller receiving an input from at least one sensor, the controller rotating the first plate cylinder with respect to the second plate cylinder so as to alter a phase between the first vibrator roll and the second vibrator roll as a function of the input.
