  • Patent number: 8317016
Abstract: A contact lens package includes a holder having a receptacle for holding a contact lens and a cap having a seal for sealing a contact lens within the receptacle. The cap is attached to the holder and is movable from an end of the holder where the receptacle is formed toward an opposite end of the holder. As the cap moves toward the opposite end of the holder, the end of the holder where the receptacle is formed ruptures the seal such that the contact lens can be removed from the package.

  • Patent number: 7699161
Abstract: An ophthalmic lens package comprises a shell having an internal cavity accessible through an opening in the shell and a drainage member that divides the internal chamber into an upper chamber and a lower chamber. The drainage member is permeable to aqueous liquids and is arranged to allow drainage of liquid from the upper chamber to the lower chamber. This arrangement of the ophthalmic lens package allows the consumer to retrieve the lens from the upper chamber without handling any significant amount of saline solution.

  • Publication number: 20080047848
Abstract: A contact lens package includes a first housing member and a second housing member pivotably connected to each other. The package also includes a holding mechanism for holding a contact lens and a receiving mechanism for receiving contact lens solution. When the housing members are in a substantially co-planar orientation, the holding mechanism is positioned within the receiving mechanism. When the housing members are in a non-planar orientation, the holding mechanism is removed from the receiving mechanism such that the holding mechanism is pivotable from a closed position, in which the contact lens held in the holding mechanism is inaccessible to a user, toward an open position, in which the contact lens held in the holding mechanism is accessible to the user.

  • Publication number: 20070199831
Abstract: A contact lens package and applicator comprises a lens cup and a lid that covers the lens cup to form a chamber for a contact lens. The lens cup has a drainage member, such as a mesh or a perforated plastic sheet, through which saline solution drains. In a first orientation, the chamber is substantially filled with the saline solution and, in a second orientation, the chamber is substantially empty of the saline solution. The lid covering the lens cup is movable between a closed position in which the contact lens is concealed and an open position in which the contact lens is accessible for direct application of the contact lens to the user's eye.
