  • Patent number: 9447950
Abstract: A frame piece of a frame for a luminaire is disclosed. The frame piece can include an inner wall, a first frame coupling feature disposed at a first end of the frame piece, and a second frame coupling feature disposed at a second end of the frame piece. The first frame coupling feature can be configured to mechanically couple to the second frame coupling feature of a first adjacent frame piece. The second frame coupling feature can be configured to mechanically couple to the first frame coupling feature of a second adjacent frame piece. The inner wall can have a first shape and a first size that is substantially similar to a second shape and a second size of a portion of a housing of the luminaire.

  • Patent number: 9391416
Abstract: An electrical device can have an associated wiring box for connecting the electrical device to an external electrical supply, for example to utility power. The wiring box can include an opening suitable for worker access, so that a worker can connect or disconnect the electrical device from electrical power. Wiring connectors can be rotatably mounted in the wiring box for making the electrical connection. The wiring connectors can be rotated to one orientation to enhance worker access through the opening, for example during installation, and to another orientation for long-term operation.

  • Patent number: 8845144
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) driver case includes a housing, driver circuitry, an recessed area in the housing, and a luminaire disconnect. The luminaire disconnect is coupled to the recessed area in the housing and extends toward an aperture in a top plate of a LED module. The luminaire disconnect can be fixedly or removably coupled to the recessed area in the housing. When the luminaire disconnect is removably coupled to the recessed area, one or more of a number of retaining features can be used to prevent the luminaire disconnect from moving or to limit the movement of the luminaire disconnect.

  • Patent number: 6969813
Abstract: A direct mount rotary handle operating mechanism for operating a circuit breaker having electrical contacts. The handle mechanism includes a driver coupled to the circuit breaker and a handle having a socket for receiving the driver. The socket is configured to allow the handle to rotate relative to the driver. The handle further includes a movable locking pin. A lock latch is associated with the driver, wherein the lock latch includes a flange portion. When the electrical contacts of the circuit breaker are welded closed and a torque is applied to the handle, the handle rotates to a position in which the pin is blocked from being inserted into the locking hole by the flange portion thereby preventing the handle from being locked in an OFF position when the contacts are welded together.

  • Patent number: 6797903
Abstract: A method and an extended rotary operating mechanism for a circuit breaker having a movable operating handle coupled to a shaft, and electrical contacts, the extended rotary operating mechanism comprising a handle operator defining a socket. A blocking plate mounted in the socket, with the blocking plate including a blocking shape. A shaft adapter is coupled to the blocking plate and the shaft. If the electrical contacts of the circuit breaker are welded closed and a torque is applied to the operator handle, the blocking shape prevents the handle operator from being locked in an “OFF” position independently of the operating handle position, by covering a locking hole. The shaft adapter may include one of an extended socket and a recessed socket configured to engage the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6201460
Abstract: An undervoltage release device for a circuit breaker is disclosed having an operating mechanism, a trip bar, line and load terminals, and a cover. The device includes a housing, a solenoid, upper and lower actuators aligned with a plunger of the solenoid and in selective contact with the trip bar, plunger and actuator reset levers mounted upon the solenoid frame, and pair of terminals in electrical contact with the solenoid coil and line terminals of the breaker, wherein the force of the solenoid corresponds to the line voltage. Also disclosed is a method for tripping a circuit breaker when line voltage drops below a selected value, in a circuit breaker having an operating mechanism and a trip unit with an intermediate latch.
