Publication number: 20200030548Abstract: In one aspect, a safety pen needle assembly is provided herein which includes a hub with a needle fixed to the hub, the needle having a distal end, formed for insertion into a patient, and a proximal end. The assembly further includes a shield and a biasing member disposed between the hub and the shield configured to urge the shield distally. A protrusion extends from at least one of the hub and the shield with a channel being formed in at least the other of the hub and the shield. The channel is formed to accommodate the protrusion. The shield is movable from a first position to a second position. In the first position, the shield is spaced from the distal end of the needle such that the distal end of the needle is exposed. In the second position, the shield covers the distal end of the needle. The channel guides the protrusion as the shield moves from the first position to the second position. With this arrangement, a shield may be directed to move in a desired path with stability.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2019Publication date: January 30, 2020Applicant: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: Tieming Ruan, Robert Banik, Eliot Zaiken, Michael Vincent Quinn, Gary Searle

Publication number: 20180311110Abstract: A system for medication delivery comprises a Package containing a medication and a Dosing mechanism for delivering a dose of a drug, formulated as multiparticulate, microspheres, powder or liquid. The Package comprises a bottle, a bottle insert that covers the bottle opening and includes a dispense nozzle. The dispense nozzle is sealed using a valve that opens when the Dosing device is engaged with the bottle. A closure covers the bottle insert and closes the bottle. The Dosing device, similar to an oral syringe, comprises a barrel with a valve at its distal end, a plunger and a dose control clip for attachment to the plunger. After the dosing device is connected to the bottle valve, withdrawal of the plunger causes the dosing device to receive a dose of drug, the user pushes the plunger which pushes the MP drug through the valve and into a patient's mouth.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2018Publication date: November 1, 2018Inventors: MICHAEL VINCENT QUINN, ALEXANDER GORSHKOV, RICHARD CRONENBERG, TOR ALDEN, ROBERT BOYER

Publication number: 20160286973Abstract: A device for filling a divot in a mattress comprises a plurality of generally flat pads progressively sized with respect to each other. Some pads are sized and shaped to fit within the divot without extending beyond the divot; a final pad completes the repair and may extend onto the mattress upper surface to provide a smooth surface. Pads are made from a flexible material, and may comprise an outer surface that includes a non-slip material such as rubber, hook-and-loop fastener, or adhesive, enabling the pads to adhere to each other or the mattress. The pads can have a flat or beveled edge, and can be manufactured from identical or dissimilar materials. A pad can be manufactured from different materials, thereby providing two different surfaces. In embodiments, the pads are oval. A cover is included to receive the pads while being used or for storage.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2016Publication date: October 6, 2016Inventor: MICHAEL VINCENT QUINN

Patent number: 9162030Abstract: A safety pen needle assembly is provided herein which includes a hub and a needle fixed to the hub. Further, a first shield is provided, along with a second shield which has a biasing element disposed to urge the second shield proximally towards a proximal end of the needle. The assembly further includes a releasable retaining assembly for releasably retaining the second shield in an initial position against the force of the biasing element. A predetermined extent of movement of the first shield causes the retaining assembly to release the second shield. With the second shield being released, the second shield is urged proximally by the biasing element to a second position where the second shield covers the proximal end of the needle. Advantageously, an assembly is provided which allows for passive activation of a shield on a non-patient end of a pen needle assembly by a patient-end shield.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2013Date of Patent: October 20, 2015Assignee: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: Tieming Ruan, Stephen Richards, Eliot Zaiken, Craig Newman, Vadim Goykhman, Joseph Alu, Michael Vincent Quinn
