  • Patent number: 5791490
Abstract: The invention relates to a separator comprising a separator housing with an inlet spiral for separating air which opens tangentially into an annular separating chamber and is divided into a plurality of delivery channels which lie one above the other, as well as a basket-shaped separator rotor disposed centrally and with a vertical axis in the separator housing and a guide vane ring which surrounds the latter with a radial clearance. In order that this separator on the one hand has a high effectiveness of separation between oversize material and fine material and on the other hand facilitates a sufficiently broad grain size distribution of the fine material, the overall shape of the separator rotor is that of a cone which tapers downwards.

  • Patent number: 5673860
Abstract: The invention relates to the comminution of moist mineral material in the comminution zone of a material comminuting machine followed by breaking up of agglomerates which have formed and subsequent wet classification of the broken-up material. A good disagglomerating effect and reliable operation is achieved with relatively compact construction of the apparatus if the comminuted product is subjected to at least an injection of fluid with at least partial disagglomerating effect whilst still within the material bed comminuting machine and immediately after leaving the comminution zone, and afterwards is passed on to the wet classification.

  • Patent number: 5454333
Abstract: A method and apparatus for continuously feeding hazardous waste fuels having a relatively high solids content to a rotary cement kiln by delivering the fuel to a feed hopper with screw-conveyor which transfers the fuel to a filling zone where a piston pump capable of pumping a composition having a solids content of at least 40% with particle sizes up to a maidmum of 2 inches continuously charges the fuel through a conveyance tube into a feed tube which introduces the fuel into the kiln through the feed end housing.

  • Patent number: 5365866
Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating the exhaust gases of a combustion process, the exhaust gases comprising in part condensable or solidifiable particulate matter and residual hazardous organic compounds and emanating from the combustion process at a first temperature, by heating a portion of the exhaust gases using a heating means within a bypass means to a second temperature higher than the first temperature, maintaining the heated exhaust gases within the bypass means at the second temperature for a time sufficient to render the desired poriton of the residual hazardous organic compounds harmless, and then cooling the heated exhaust gases using a quench means within the bypass means to a third temperature lower than the first temperature in a period of time short enough to prevent the condensable or solidifiable particulate matter from condensing or solidifying on and adhering to the bypass means.

  • Patent number: 5122190
Abstract: A method for producing a hydraulic binder using partially calcined raw meal entrained in the kiln off gases. The raw meal flow form the lowermost cyclone is interrupted at or near the junction of the meal chute, kiln inlet and riser duct. This flow interruption causes turbulence in the partially calcined meal facilitating dust entrainment in the gas. The splash plate can be selectively adjusted to entrain more or less raw meal. The entrained meal is drawn off from the riser duct through a kiln bypass duct, processed and hydrated to convert the calcium oxide in the meal to calcium hydroxide.

  • Patent number: 5024754
Abstract: The invention relates to a separator with a rotor and a material distributor which are driven separately. Such a separator is particularly suitable for grinding plants which are equipped with a high-pressure grinding roll mill. The scabs discharged from such a roll mill can be broken up in a simple manner in the separator which acts simultaneously as a disagglomerator.

  • Patent number: 4861265
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus and to a method for the heat treatment of fine-grained material using a multi-stage cyclone preheater and a combustion chamber supplied with tertiary air from the cooler, in which the branched part of the tertiary air pipe extends upwards and the material discharged from the second-lowest stage of the cyclone preheater is introduced into one branch pipe at a point which lies lower than the point at which this branch pipe is connected to the combustion chamber. In this way good dispersal of the material which is delivered pneumatically to the combusion chamber and excellent combustion conditions are achieved at the same time as a considerable reduction in the overall height of the entire cyclone preheater.

  • Patent number: 4792393
Abstract: The invention relates to a sifter in which the spiral for delivery of the air for sifting is divided into a plurality of channels lying one above another in which elements for setting the quantity of sifting air delivered to the individual channels are provided. In such a sifter the quantity of sifting air in the individual regions of the sifting chamber can be optimally adapted to the requirements, which leads to a substantial improvement in the degree of separation.
