  • Patent number: 4908630
Abstract: Disclosed is a rotating joint used in radars to transmit electrical signals on several channels between a rotating antenna and a fixed support. The pass-band of the matched and coupled circuits of each channel is substantially improved by making these circuits on concentric, circular rings which have metallic ground strips deposited on both faces, said strips being connected by metallized holes, and metallic strips of coils connected by the facing sections of the rings.

  • Patent number: 4693338
Abstract: The exhaust muffler comprises a body (12) of ceramic material which is enclosed within a metal case (1) defining an inlet chamber (16) and an outlet chamber (18) for the exhaust gases. A blanket (20, 22) of refractory fibres resisting high temperatures, assembled with a very small amount of binder and substantially without water of constitution, is highly compressed between the body (12) and the case. A sealing element (24) surrounding the body (12) is interposed between the blanket and the gas outlet chamber (18).

  • Patent number: 4648624
Abstract: The tubular part (1) passes through a middle support piece (25) which is arranged between two clamping flanges (17a, 17b). A tie rod (21) passes through the flanges (17) and bears against the external surfaces of these flanges by means of a stop (29) and a clamping device on the one hand, and a nut (31), on the other hand. The clamping device consists of a bistable toggle-joint system comprising two levers (40,41) located in between the stop (29) and a bearing part (34). The stop (29), the levers (40,41) and the bearing part (34) have complementary hinging surfaces which are freely engaged with each other for assembly of the clamping device. With the device according to the invention it is possible to fix a steering column which can be continuously adjusted by pivoting and/or sliding. It is also possible to absorb the torques which may be transmitted to the steering column when the anti-theft device of the vehicle is engaged.

  • Patent number: 4601215
Abstract: This shaft is formed by a tube in a single piece having one end portion which is enlarged and cut away so as to constitute a universal joint yoke 5. A main cylindrical body 18 having a wall of reduced thickness connects this yoke to a portion 23 of greater wall thickness and provided with two slots 22 constituting a locking keeper. At the end of the shaft opposed to the yoke there is formed a steering wheel support constituted by a portion of the tube which has a smaller diameter and a greater wall thickness.

  • Patent number: 4372928
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of separating isotopes from a gas mixture, of once ionized uranium the isotopes being separated by the combined effect of photon irradiation by laser light followed by Penning ionization of ions selectively excited by the laser light.According to the invention a gas of once ionized uranium isotopes is irradiated with laser light made up of photons having an energy which resonates with an excitation level of an isotope of the gas mixture. Metastable atoms or molecules are simultaneously introduced into the mixture and have an excitation energy which is less than the energy for a further ionization of the constituents of the mixture and greater than the energy gap between the energy for a further ionization of the isotope excited by the laser light and the energy of the excitation level of the same isotope.
