  • Publication number: 20170234767
Abstract: There is provided a system and a test instrument for identifying or verifying the fiber arrangement and/or the cable type of multi-fiber array cables (such as MPO cables) which employs a light source and a polarity detector at the near end of the multi-fiber array cable under test, and a loopback device at the far end. The polarity detector comprises light presence detectors used to detect which one of the optical fibers of the multi-fiber array cable returns light looped back at the far end and thereby determine the fiber arrangement and/or the cable type of the multi-fiber array cable.

  • Patent number: 9423316
Abstract: There is provided an optical reflectometric method and system for characterizing an optical fiber link, wherein events in the fiber optic link under test are identified and values of parameters characterizing the events (e.g. location, insertion loss and reflectance) are extracted from an analysis of one or more reflectometric measurements performed on the optical fiber link. A loss profile and/or a reflectance profile are then constructed. The loss and reflectance profiles are typically displayed on screen or otherwise graphically represented for an operator to be able to appreciate the measurement results at a single glance.

  • Publication number: 20160041065
Abstract: There is provided a method and a system for identifying or verifying the fiber arrangement and/or the cable type of multi-fiber array cables (such as MPO cables) which employs an OTDR acquisition device at the near end of the MPO cable, a loopback device at the far end and an array of signatures detectable by the OTDR, either at the far or the near end. The loopback device allows performing bidirectional OTDR measurements with a single OTDR acquisition device (without moving it from one end to the other) and the signature array provides fiber arrangement/cable type identification or verification.

  • Publication number: 20150033813
Abstract: A pipe bending apparatus has a head portion, an elongated handle portion attached to a bottom section of the head portion, and a laser member adapted to attach to a pipe and be spaced a predetermined distance away from the head and handle portions, wherein the head portion includes a curved elongated channel having two side walls forming a channel interior, a channel exterior, and an open channel top, the head portion further including an end section formed on a distal front end thereof, such that the channel and the end section are formed and adapted to hold a pipe around a substantial portion of its diameter, the two side walls of the channel have a series of spaced matching pairs of holes, wherein each of the matching pair of holes are adapted to receive and hold a blocking pin therein.

  • Publication number: 20100071999
Abstract: A spring motor for driving a driving shaft, comprising a spring operating gear; a spring about a rotation axis; a gear train; and a coupling arm connecting the rotation axis to the driving shaft by the gear train to transmit energy released by the spring from the rotation axis to the driving shaft, activating the driving shaft into rotation at a first speed. This spring motor allows storing energy in a spring; transmitting the stored energy to a driving shaft by linking an axis of the spring to the driving shaft by engaging the gear train; and reloading the spring; and reloading the spring by using a motor or transmitting energy from the driving shaft to the spring.

  • Publication number: 20090174397
Abstract: This internal instrumentation system (3) for a nuclear reactor comprises at least: a probe (7) for measuring the neutron flux in the core (5) of the nuclear reactor; a displacement cable (9) for moving the probe inside the core (5); a rotary drive device (35) for the displacement cable (9); and a determination device (44) for determining the angular position of the rotary drive device (35), which determination device comprises a synchrotransmitter (45) which itself comprises a rotor made to rotate as one with the drive device (35) and a stator having three windings. The device (44) for determining the angular position comprises an electronic unit for digitising at least two of the voltages at the terminals of the stator windings of the synchrotransmitter and for digitally processing these digitised voltages in order to produce at least one output signal representative of the angular position of the rotary drive device (35).

  • Patent number: 5823321
Abstract: A locking device for unipolar breaker is remote-controlled: the device surrounds a breaker blade and adds to a pivoting-base of the blade a T-shaped piece which prevents the closing of the blade. The T-shaped piece comprises a wide web and two wedge points. The wide web is of a reversed U-shape comprising wings that are locked together by a latch placed inside one of the wings and operated by a key. The latch cannot be triggered too easily so it will not start by itself. To trigger the latch, a key has to be inserted into a casing located in a wing. This casing holds a disk with scarf-joints while the key has a disk with grooves, the combination of scarf-joints and grooves allowing various combinations. The key is located at the end of a gaff, so that only one user may lock or unlock the switch.

  • Patent number: 5409179
Abstract: A collapsable reel using a sectional rim comprising articulated saddle shaped sections. One side of a section is fixed. A central bottom part can be tilted and the other side is fully inclinable. The lowering of the bottom added to the lowering of one side allows effortless removal of the coil. The reel comprises a central shaft, a set of eight radial arms fixed to the shaft and a second set of radial arms pivotally mounted on a slider bushing which is slidably related to the base of the fixed radial arms by a two arm linkage. A radially directed pin hinged at the intersection of the linkage is actuated by a sliding wedge located within the shaft and pulled by a handle, which pushes the pin outwards thereby folding the linkage. When the linkage is thus folded, it pulls in a slider linked to the articulated rim sections, thereby collapsing the sections to a smaller inside diameter than is possible when simply tilting a one piece saddle section.
