  • Patent number: 5560959
Abstract: A process for producing a multi-layer film having a plurality of synthetic resin layers laminated on a releasable flat substrate by casting, which comprises firstly forming on the substrate a synthetic resin layer having adhesive or sticking properties, and then casting and curing on the synthetic resin layer having adhesive or sticking properties at least one kind of reaction-curable resin raw material mixture substantially free from a solvent to form at least one cured synthetic resin layer, so that the uppermost layer is composed of a cured synthetic resin superior in surface properties to its adjacent layer. Further, surface defects transferred from the substrate to the adhesive layer are substantially eliminated by a subsequent lamination step.

  • Patent number: 4830806
Abstract: The invention is directed to the method, products and apparatus for the manufacture of a high optical quality sheet of plastic comprising a polyurethane layer having energy-absorbing properties obtained by reactive pouring or reactive pulverization of the reaction components. In accordance with the invention, the polyurethane layer is treated, while it is in a state of ongoing polymerization corresponding to an NCO/CH ratio of less than 0.7, with water in a liquid or vapor form and then subsequently, after rolling with an interpolated film, stocking and unrolling, the layer is subjected to heat treatment.

  • Patent number: 4186685
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for applying a plastic filament on the periphery of a face of a glass sheet which is adapted for use in the production of a multiple window pane unit. The apparatus includes an extrusion device for extruding on the glass sheet a plastic material having a viscosity greater than 115.degree. Mooney at the end of an 8 minute test at 40.degree. C. as measured by a Mooney consistometer, and support means defining a surface for supporting a glass sheet. The extrusion device includes a body portion and head member and an extrusion nozzle carried by the head member for extruding the plastic material. The nozzle extends from the head at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the device and the head is rotatable relative to the body portion about the longitudinal axis of the device to permit orientation of the nozzle at an angle of about between 15.degree. and 45.degree. with respect to the plane of the face of the glass sheet which is supported by the supporting means.
