  • Patent number: 4455653
Abstract: An appliance comprising a programmed digital processor having an integral test procedure and input and output terminals for connection to further parts of the apparatus, including input means and display means. In order to test the input and output terminals of the signal processor and the connections to further parts of the apparatus, further connections are provided from input and/or output terminals of the signal processor, via a plurality of gates which are activated by the signal processor via a further terminal thereof, to other input and/or output terminals of the signal processor. When the test procedure is activated, an indicator indicates whether or not the tested terminal and/or connection is in good order.

  • Patent number: 4412284
Abstract: Method of operating a mains-powered processor-controlled electrical apparatus when the power fails and is subsequently restored and apparatus therefor. In the case of a power outage data identifying the program in progress is transferred for salvage to a memory. When power is restored and if the duration of the mains-power failure is smaller than a predetermined value, physical parameters which define the instantaneous state of the apparatus are sensed in response to an instruction from the processor in order to determine the conditions under which the program may be resumed by the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4177403
Abstract: An electronic starter for a discharge lamp includes an SCR controlled by a temperature-sensitive element and an auxiliary switch arranged so that no current flows in the temperature-sensitive element when the lamp is in operation, whereby rapid restarting of the lamp occurs after a brief interruption of the AC supply voltage. The temperature-sensitive element may be thermally coupled to an inductor in series with the lamp ballast thereby to limit the ballast current in the event the lamp fails to ignite.

  • Patent number: 3978390
Abstract: A relaxation circuit effects the drive of a blocking invertor for supplying a discharge lamp, thus enabling this invertor to operate in a wide range of the electric input voltage while the whole arrangement has a high efficiency.
