  • Patent number: 7213387
Abstract: A method for crimping paper roll wrap overhang is provided. The method comprises (a) forcing a portion of the wrap overhang towards the longitudinal axis for generating a fold in the wrap overhang, and (b) creasing the fold against the end face with a creasing member moving in a tangential arc over the end face. The method is particularly suitable for crimping roll wrap overhangs of over 6 inches and for providing more regular crimps by reducing bunching of the wrap.

  • Patent number: 7032359
Abstract: A crimper and method for crimping roll wrap overhang are provided. The crimper comprises a rotatable support for mounting to a drive shaft, a folding member on the support for engaging and bending flexible material (such as paper roll wrap) to generate a fold upon rotation of the support about a support axis, and a crease roller on the support in direction of rotation behind the folding member for creasing the fold upon rotation of the support. The crimper and crimping method are particularly suitable for crimping roll wrap overhangs of over 6 inches. The present invention also provides a crimping assembly comprising the crimper described herein.

  • Patent number: 5002784
Abstract: The extraction of natural products from material of biological origin is enhanced and accelerated by concurrent contact with extractant medium and exposure to microwave radiation. Normally the extractant medium is selected to be transparent to the microwave and to remain at ambient temperature: however, if some heating of the medium is permissible it may be partially transparent. Sufficient extractant medium should be present to effect the desired extraction. The extraction products are recovered by standard procedures. Materials used for extraction include mint, sea parsley, cedar foilage and garlic. Extractants may be for instance hexane, dichloromethane or ethanol. Extractions may be in two or more stages with different extractants used in each stage. Some of these extraction products are found to be novel, and quite distinct from steam distillation products.
