  • Publication number: 20070278130
Abstract: An air cushion is provided for protecting products during shipment, and is fabricated of two sheets of heat sealable thermoplastic material secured together at seams to define an inflatable tube and two product support panels extending across the inside of the tube. The inflatable tube may be rectangular or U-shaped. The product support panels provide a product placement area, including having an opening for receiving and holding a product between the product support panels. The product support panels may be seamed to provide multiple product placement areas or shaped placement product areas. The inflation tube may be provided with stacking height extension legs that fold to overlie or underlie the inflatable tube. The thermoplastic material may include a metallic layer for shielding products from electromagnetic radiation. The air cushion is used with a carton, which closely receives the inflatable tube with the product suspended and supported in the carton.

  • Publication number: 20060188356
Abstract: A dunnage bag is fabricated of thermoplastic sheet material joined together to form an air cushion including being joined to form an inflation panel edge seam. An inflation opening to the air cushion is defined between two layers of thermoplastic sheet material adjacent a terminus of the panel edge seam. Two layers of the thermoplastic sheet material extend from the inflation panel edge seam and inflation opening, and the two layers are joined together by an inflation panel seam pattern to form an inflation panel. The inflation panel seam pattern further defines an inflation area communicating with the inflation opening and with an inflation valve sealed to the inflation panel in the inflation area, for supplying inflation air from the inflation valve through the inflation panel and into the air cushion. The inflation area is preferably an elongated sinuous tube. This configuration protects the inflation valve and contributes to the integrity of the dunnage bag.

  • Patent number: 6520333
Abstract: An inflatable packaging cushion includes an inflatable tube having inner and outer walls secured together at their ends, longitudinal seams dividing the tube into elongated inflatable compartments, and a valve for inflating the tube. A product area is thereby defined within the inflatable tube. A pocket is secured to the inflatable tube and is disposed in the product area. The pocket defines a mouth for receiving a product and an end for retaining a product therein. The pocket further includes a flap foldable over the mouth for retaining a product therein. The end and mouth of the pocket are spaced from the ends of the inflatable tube. The pocket is formed of spunbonded olefin and the inflatable tube is formed of polyethylene film.
