  • Publication number: 20060031629
Abstract: A recording apparatus records music on a recording medium. The recording apparatus may access a music piece purchasing data base and select music to be recorded on the recording medium from the music piece purchasing data base. A total playing time of the selected music is calculated. Further, a remaining recording time of the recording medium is calculated, the remaining recording time being the recording capacity of the recording media before the selected music is recorded on the recording medium. Then, it is judged whether or not the total playing time of the selected music is greater than the remaining recording time. A warning is issued when it is judged that the total playing time is greater than the remaining recording time.

  • Publication number: 20060024027
Abstract: A recording system having a plurality of recording apparatuses connected to a network. The apparatuses can select a channel for receiving a broadcast signal and record reservations for recording a program broadcast through a broadcasting channel at a predetermined time of day. One of the apparatuses, denoted as a reservation-receiving recording apparatus, receives recording reservation information from a user and detects if there is any overlapping programs in time using received recording reservation information and prexisting recording reservation information stored in memory. The reservation-receiving recording apparatus sends to the network a recording reservation request including overlapping recording reservation information, if it detects broadcasting time period overlaps, wherein the overlapping recording reservation information causes the overlapping program to be recorded by another recording apparatus connected to the network instead.

  • Patent number: 6983314
Abstract: A client transmits the title and artist of a particular music piece to a Web server via the Internet. The Web server accesses a music piece playing time information database and searches the playing time corresponding to that music piece. The playing time searched and obtained is transmitted to the client via the Internet. Also, a menu page for a label printing service is sent to the client from the Web server via the Internet. Printing conditions for the label are input at the client using the GUI of the menu page transmitted from the Web server. The input conditions are transmitted to the Web server via the Internet. The Web server prints labels under the input printing conditions. Thus, music data can be efficiently recording on media, and further, accurate and neatly-printed labels can be easily provided to general users.

  • Publication number: 20050216476
Abstract: A method and apparatus for supplying information, and a storage medium on which an information supplying program is stored are disclosed, in which backup files of Web pages which were laid open in the past and those which will be laid open in the future are stored in a WWW server so that any Web page can be presented to a client in response to a request issued by the client. WWW server creates a file name used as a key when being retrieved, by adding data representing updating date and time at the end of an original file name of a Web page stored in an open storage area of an HDD which is allowed to be freely accessed via the Internet. The created file name serving as a key in retrieval is assigned to a backup data created from update data, and the backup data is stored in a retrieval storage area.

  • Patent number: 6785740
Abstract: An apparatus, a method and a medium for providing and processing information, whereby users of a chat system send easily and rapidly to one another a URL for uniquely designating the location of a file on the Internet. A hard disk drive of a WWW server records predetermined keywords and addresses for uniquely designating the locations of information corresponding to these keywords. A CPU of the WWW server receives any one of the keywords which is included in text data from an information processing apparatus, and translates the keyword into data with a tag related to the address corresponding to the keyword in question.

  • Publication number: 20030188005
Abstract: A mutual recognition process is performed in step S1. When it is determined in step S2 that a request for sending a list of musical pieces has been received, the list of musical pieces is sent in step S3. When a request for sending audio data has been received in step S4, a transfer-rate measurement process is executed in step S5. When it is determined according to the transfer rate in step S6 that the audio can be transmitted, the corresponding compressed audio data is extracted in step S7, the compressed audio data is decoded to generate linear PCM data suited to the transfer rate in step S8, and transmitted in step S9. When the audio data cannot be transmitted, an error message is transmitted in step S10. The present invention can be applied, for example, to a server for distributing audio data and an audio player terminal for reproducing the distributed audio data.

  • Patent number: 6125187
Abstract: Disclosed howling eliminating apparatus comprises frequency analyzing means 32 for detecting a frequency which causes howling, band eliminating means 20 for eliminating a band including the howling frequency detected by the frequency analyzing means, and controlling means 30 for controlling both the frequency analyzing means and the band eliminating means in their characteristics. The frequency analyzing means is controlled to divide input frequencies into a plurality of wide bands, detect howling status in each of the divided wide bands to isolate one wide band suspected to include the howling frequency. When the one wide band causing the howling is isolated, the frequency analyzing means divides the suspected wide band into a plurality of narrow bands, and detects the howling frequency in one of the narrow bands. The band eliminating means is controlled to eliminate the narrow band including the howling frequency. The apparatus thus shortens the time it takes to detect howling with a minimum of hardware.

  • Patent number: 5151831
Abstract: A digital signal processing circuit comprising two memory groups to sequentially store digital data of transmission rate t input by a frame unit, a first controller to control the memory groups so that one of the memory groups simultaneously reads out the stored digital data at transmission rate t/n while another memory group sequentially stores the digital data, a signal processor to sequentially signal-process digital data of n systems alternately output from the two memory groups on DAT format, respectively; two other memory groups to alternately store the data signal-processed by the signal processing means, respectively, and a second controller to control the two other memory groups so that one of the two other memory groups outputs the stored and signal-processed digital data at a velocity n times as great as that on memory in a predetermined sequential manner while the other memory groups store the signal-processed data output from the signal processor.
