    Abstract: A vehicle lamp has a red bulb which is made by coating its exterior surface with a red paint including iron oxide as a red pigment. A mean particle size of the iron oxide is controlled to a range of approximately 10 to 100 nm, and a PWC concentration of the iron oxide is controlled to a range of approximately 60 to 90%. As a result, a red marker lamp can have an appropriate luminous flux (120±20% lm) and desirable chromaticity (y<0.335 and z<0.008) and satisfactory heat resistance (350° C. or higher).

    Abstract: A vehicle lamp is fitted with a reflective coated reflector which is capable of obtaining a greater center luminous intensity than conventional reflective coated reflectors. The vehicle lamp includes a light source, a reflector for reflecting light from the light source, and a front lens disposed in front of the light source. The reflective surface of the reflector is formed with a luminance reflective coating film containing aluminum flakes that are arranged so as to have a center luminous intensity of 8,000 cd or greater. An aluminum flake layer with the aluminum flakes piled up therein is formed in the surface layer portion of the luminance reflective coating film, and the aluminum flake layer forms a reflective surface for reflecting light. The aluminum flakes mixed in the luminance reflective coating film are thinner (0.01-0.06 &mgr;m thick) than the aluminum flakes (0.1 &mgr;m or greater in thickness) mixed in a conventional reflective coating film.

    Abstract: A surface-coated, molded resin article for vehicles composed of a substrate (100) made of a resin, a plate layer (101) formed on the surface of the substrate (100) and coating films formed on the surface of the plate layer (101) wherein two or more different silicone-based coating films (102), (103) containing UV absorbers are laminated on each other. The lower coating film (102) is a light-reflective pearl film, while the upper coating film (103) is a film having a desired color. The UV rays are absorbed by the UV absorber contained in each coating film, to reduce the amount of UV rays that reach the interface between the plate layer 101 and the coating film 102, thus, peeling of the coating films can be effectively prevented. The lower coating film 102 reflects the external rays and provides a glossy appearance, thus contributing to the improvement in the appearance as a metallic coating.
