  • Patent number: 5132136
Abstract: A condensed wire composition containing an extract content of no less than 18% (w/v) is obtained by vacuum condensing a wine at a temperature of 5.degree. to 60.degree. C., preferably 20.degree. to 35.degree. C. to a concentration by at least 8 times as high as the original, retaining the resulting condensate at a low temperature, e.g., 0.degree. to 10.degree. C. to crystallize tartar, and removing the tartar. An initial distillate obtained upon the vacuum condensing of the wine and/or brandy may be added to the condensed wine in such an amount that final product has an alcohol content less than 1% (v/v).

  • Patent number: 4781977
Abstract: A cyclodextrin adsorbing material composed of a water-insoluble resin substrate to which a ligand having such a size as to be included by cyclodextrin is chemically bonded via a spacer radical; a method of separating and purifying cyclodextrin from an aqueous solution containing it, which comprises bringing said aqueous solution into contact with the above adsorbing material to adsorb cyclodextrin on the adsorbing material, and subjecting the adsorbing material to a desorption treatment to recover cyclodextrin; and a method of increasing the amount of cyclodextrin yielded, which comprises carrying out a cyclodextrin-forming reaction by an enzymatic method in the presence of the above adsorbent material.

  • Patent number: 4746734
Abstract: Partially methylated cyclodextrins with enhanced solubility in water have an average degree of methylation of hydroxyl groups at different positions in all the glucose units involved of about 53-64% for the 2-position, about 38-51% for the 3-position and about 70-100% for the 6-position. The partially methylated cyclodextrins are prepared by reacting .beta.-cyclodextrin with more than about 30 equivalent proportions based on the .beta.-cyclodextrin of dimethyl sulfate and more than about 30 equivalent proportions of an alkali metal hydroxide, wherein the concentration of reactants is greater than 10% (wt/wt).

  • Patent number: 4376369
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has an exhaust manifold, an inlet manifold, and a carburetor which has a fuel jet. An oxygen sensor is mounted within the exhaust manifold, and produces an output signal according to the oxygen present within the exhaust gases. A computing means computes a corrective signal according to the oxygen sensor output signal. This corrective signal is fed as an input signal both to a means for supplying secondary air into the exhaust manifold, and also to a means for supplying bleed air to the jet of the carburetor. In a particular embodiment, a secondary air signal cutoff device selectively intercepts supply of the corrective signal to the secondary air supply means, and an air bleed signal cutoff device selectively intercepts the supply of the corrective signal to the air bleed supply means. These cutoff devices may be controlled according to vehicle road speed, engine temperature, engine rotational speed, inlet manifold vacuum, and the temperature of a catalytic converter.
