Patent number: 7801668Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for controlling combustion in a pilot ignition gas engine connected to an electric generator of a power generator unit installed near a coal mine. The engine utilizes recovered methane gas and ventilation air methane gas from the coal mine by adjusting methane concentration to produce a lean air-methane gas mixture. Gas engine output torque is controlled to maintain |?Td|?|?Ts|>0, where |?Td| is the absolute value of change rate of load torque Td required to drive the generator in relation to engine rotation speed, and |?Ts| is the absolute value of change rate of output torque Ts in relation to engine rotation speed at an intersection of torque curves. Excess air ratio is controlled to be 2 or larger so that lean mixture burning is performed while avoiding misfiring and knocking by controlling the mixing ratio of recovered methane gas with ventilation air methane.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2007Date of Patent: September 21, 2010Assignee: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Kuninori Ito, Michio Abe

Patent number: 5597456Abstract: A plastic tube extruded from an extruder is conveyed through a plasma treatment apparatus. The plasma treatment apparatus is equipped with a tubular electrode body having a high-voltage side electrode and a grounded-side electrode disposed on a tubular insulator and a high frequency electric power source connected to the electrodes. When the plastic tube is conveyed through the electrode body with one end of the tube open to the atmosphere, a mixture of a glow discharge-stabilizing gas and a treating gas is fed into the other end of the tube and an alternating-current high-voltage is applied to generate a plasma region at a pressure near to atmospheric pressure in which the tube is treated with a glow discharge plasma. This method allows an interior and/or exterior surface of a plastic tube designed to convey a medical fluid to be continuously treated by a glow discharge plasma at atmospheric pressure to form an anti-thrombotic and blood-compatible film on the surface treated.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1996Date of Patent: January 28, 1997Assignees: Hiroshi Kashiwagi, Agency of Industrial Science & Technology, Sachiko Okazaki, Masuhiro Kogoma, Kawasumi Laboratories Inc.Inventors: Tohru Maruyama, Michio Abe, Hiroaki Nomiyama, Sachiko Okazaki, Masuhiro Kogoma, Makoto Kodama
