  • Patent number: 8096174
Abstract: A vehicle includes an ABS, which controls braking force on wheels, and a tire condition monitoring apparatus, which detects the internal air pressure of tires. The dynamic rolling radius of the tires is computed based on signals from rotation sensor units of the ABS. The weight of a load carried by the vehicle is computed based on the dynamic rolling radius of the tires and the internal air pressure of the tires detected by the tire condition monitoring apparatus. When computing the load weight, a load weight determination map, which previously sets the relationship among the internal air pressure of the tires, the dynamic rolling radius of the tires, and the weight of the load carried by the vehicle, is used.

  • Publication number: 20110221587
Abstract: A tire wear detection device includes a wear detector embedded in a tread of a tire, a sensor unit arranged on a wheel, and a receiver unit arranged on a vehicle body. The wear detector includes a piezoelectric element and a resonance circuit, which generates a radio wave signal from a voltage signal generated by the piezoelectric element. The sensor unit transmits through wireless communication a pressure data signal indicating an internal air pressure of the tire, generates a wear data signal indicating a wear state of the tire based on the received radio wave signal, and transmits through wireless communication the wear data signal. The receiver unit receives the pressure data signal and the wear data signal from the sensor unit.

  • Publication number: 20080291002
Abstract: A tire condition monitoring apparatus having a transmitter and a receiver is disclosed. The transmitter incorporates a battery having a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The transmitter wirelessly transmits a signal including data representing the condition of a tire of a vehicle using electromotive force produced by the battery. The receiver receives the signal from the transmitter and processes the signal. The transmitter includes a refresh circuit that performs refresh by forcibly supplying an electric current to the positive and negative electrodes of the battery. The transmitter measures the electromotive force of the battery after such refresh. If the electromotive force of the battery has not been recovered, the transmitter sends a notification signal indicating insufficiency of the electromotive force of the battery to the receiver. In response to the notification signal, the receiver announces insufficient capacity of the battery to the driver of the vehicle by means of a warning device.

  • Patent number: 7352276
Abstract: A transmitter in an apparatus for monitoring a condition of a tire of a vehicle includes a circuit portion and a casing that accommodates the circuit portion. The casing has a first pressure transmitting portion that transmits the pressure in the tire to the circuit portion so that the circuit portion can detect the pressure in the tire. The pressure transmitted to the circuit portion through the first pressure transmitting portion produces force that presses the circuit portion. The casing further has a second pressure transmitting portion that transmits the pressure in the tire to the circuit portion to apply force that acts against the pressing force to the circuit portion. Therefore, the transmitter prevents a substrate from flexing.

  • Patent number: 7295776
Abstract: An ring type optical LAN device includes a master node and a plurality of slave nodes that are interconnected by an optical fiber cable. A plurality of optical bypass transmission lines are provided in correspondence with each one of the slave nodes. Each of the optical bypass transmission lines bypasses the corresponding one of the slave nodes. Each slave node includes an E/O converter and an optical cutoff circuit. Each of the E/O converters is controlled to flash for generating an optical signal, which is transmitted to a network. When any one of the slave nodes fails such that the corresponding E/O converter is maintained in a turned on state, the associated optical cutoff circuit forcibly switches the E/O converter to a turned off state. This suppresses a network crash caused by the failure maintaining the E/O converter in the turned on state.
