Abstract: This application pertains to electroluminescent systems, and more particularly, but not exclusively, to innovative configurations of EL-wires and EL-cables. A central axis can extend longitudinally of an EL-cable: An electrically conductive core defines a longitudinal axis being substantially coextensive with the central axis of the cable. An electroluminescent material electrically couples to the core. A first electrical conductor is outwardly spaced from the core and electrically coupled to the electroluminescent material such that an AC-voltage potential applied between the core and the first electrical conductor induces the electroluminescent material to luminesce, defining a luminescent region of the cable. A second electrical conductor is outwardly spaced from and helically overlies the core. The second electrical conductor is substantially electrically isolated from the electroluminescent material.
