  • Patent number: 9970912
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for detecting smoke in an area. The apparatus may include a first detector module comprising a sensor configured to detect smoke in a volume of air received from the area, and a display module configured to receive input from the first detector module and provide output to a detection management device. The apparatus may also include a first backplane electrically coupled to the first detector module, and a second backplane electrically coupled to the display module and to the first backplane so as to transmit power, signals, or both between the display module and the first detector module. The first and second backplanes may be interchangeable.

  • Publication number: 20150254953
Abstract: A smoke detection system as well as an apparatus and method for coupling a smoke detection system with a pipe communicating with an area to be monitored. The apparatus includes a first cylindrical body including a first end configured to receive and seal with a port of the smoke detection system, and a second end. The apparatus also includes a second cylindrical body including a first end coupled with the second end of the first cylindrical body, and a second end, with the second cylindrical body receiving the pipe with the second end. The apparatus further includes a gland coupled with the second end of the second cylindrical body, the gland being configured to receive the pipe therethrough and tighten to seal with the pipe, such that the pipe communicates with the smoke detection system, via at least the first cylindrical body.

  • Patent number: 8756761
Abstract: A hinge (100) including a first flange (102) having a first sleeve segment and a portioned sleeve segment is disclosed. The hinge also includes a second flange (104) having a second sleeve segment. The second flange is configured to mate with the first flange such that the first sleeve segment, the second sleeve segment, and the portioned sleeve segment are substantially aligned. A pin (106) is configured to be removably inserted into the first sleeve segment and the second sleeve segment. Also disclosed are a method for assembling a hinge and a container assembly including a hinge.

  • Publication number: 20130021155
Abstract: A detection circuit for use in detecting hazardous conditions includes a first conductor (142) and a second conductor (144). The first conductor and the second conductor couple at least one initiating device (138) to a detection control panel (104) configured to detect hazardous conditions. A voltage-stabilizing device (140) is configured to stabilize a voltage between the first conductor and the second conductor. A method of assembling a detection system includes coupling a first conductor and a second conductor to at least one initiating device to form a detection circuit, and coupling a voltage-stabilizing device to the first conductor and the second conductor, wherein the voltage-stabilizing device is configured to stabilize a voltage between the first conductor and the second conductor. The first conductor and the second conductor are coupled to a detection control panel configured to detect a hazardous condition.
