  • Patent number: 9001399
Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for compensating for side 1 to side 2 differences in a document scanning device. In one embodiment, the present method involves selecting at least one solid area patch printed in at least one reference color of a color space. The scan head of side 1 scans the patch to capture a first set of color values. The scan head of side 2 scans the same patch to capture a second set of color values. A regression method generates a coefficient matrix which minimizes a ?E color difference metric between the first and second sets of color values. An image processing module associated with the side 2 scanner is programmed with the coefficient matrix and uses the coefficient matrix to adjust a color response of the side 2 scanner to compensate for side 1 to side 2 differences.

  • Patent number: 8824031
Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus for transmitting an object from a scanned document are disclosed. For example, the method receives a scanned document, automatically segments one or more objects from the scanned document, presents the scanned document to the user, wherein the scanned document is modified to visually identify the one or more objects that are automatically segmented, receives a selection of an object of the one or more objects that are automatically segmented and transmits the object that is selected.

  • Patent number: 8000554
Abstract: A method of performing non-linear transformation of a digital image for contrast modification. The original video input is compared to a linear transformation with gain and offset; and, the differential of the change in gain or slope and the input image ? is multiplied by a factor m obtained from a look-up table and the product of m and ? added to the original input to obtain the output video.

  • Patent number: 7379595
Abstract: A manual windowing with auto-segmentation assistance method and system are disclosed that include defining manual tags to be assigned to one or more windows via a tag selection module, assigning the defined manual tags to the one or more windows via a manual tag assignment module and auto-segmenting the one or more windows within the display medium by producing auto-segmentation tags via the auto-segmentation module. Furthermore the method and system according to this invention provide for mapping tags to the auto-segmentation tags via a tag mapping module and merging the manual tags and the auto-segmentation tags via a merging module.

  • Patent number: 7058222
Abstract: A background detection process that analyzes background information for the purpose of limiting the impact of intensity information obtained from non-document areas includes: identifying a first white peak from pixels within a first document region; identifying a second white peak from pixels within a second document region; determining if the first white peak was identified using image data from outside of the input document; and if so, identifying a third white peak from pixels within the first document region based on the second white peak.
