  • Patent number: 8398845
Abstract: A measuring device for analyzing a sample liquid having at least one analyte is provided. A test field support housed in the device includes a number of individual test fields in communication with electrochemical measuring cells of the test field support. Reagents can be assigned to the electrochemical measuring cells which can react with a sample liquid. The reaction can lead to a measurable change of at least one quantity characteristic of the presence or concentration of an analyte in the sample. The measuring device includes evaluation electronics. The individual test fields on the test field support are accessible to the user after the measuring device has been opened.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 15, 2007
Date of Patent: March 19, 2013
    Assignee: Roche Diagnostics Operations, Inc.

  • Patent number: 8357274
Abstract: An electrochemical biosensor analysis system is provided for analyzing a sample liquid, comprising a biosensor having an electrode structure made of at least two electrodes, a test field, covering the electrode structure and capable of absorbing the sample liquid, and a defined sample application surface on the top side of the test field. The system also includes an analysis instrument comprising an evaluation unit for determining the desired analysis data. The analysis instrument comprises an AC resistance measuring device for measuring an AC resistance value between two electrodes of the electrode structure by means of an area compensation measurement. The measured AC resistance value is used, in the determination of the analysis data, as a measure of the partial area of the effective electrode structure area wetted by the sample liquid.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: January 22, 2013
    Assignee: Roche Diagnostics Operations, Inc.
Inventors: Michael Marquant, Udo Zapf, Gregor Bainczyk, Volker Unkrig, Mihail-Onoriu Lungu, Holger Kotzan
  • Patent number: 8137980
Abstract: The invention concerns a reagent system for the so-called on-board control of analytical elements, in particular test strips, containing an organic N-oxide or a nitroso compound. The invention also concerns analytical elements containing a reagent system for a detection reaction and a reagent system for an on-board control. Furthermore, the invention concerns a method for checking analytical elements in which a reagent system for an on-board control is examined optically or electrochemically with the aid of a measuring instrument for changes which could indicate a stress of the analytical element.
