  • Patent number: 8892962
Abstract: A failure detection method including: detecting, by a virtual computer, occurrence of the failure in a virtual function of an I/O device; acquiring, a virtual device name corresponding to the virtual function in which the failure has occurred; referring, to device information retaining a virtual device name of the I/O device assigned to the virtual computer and VF specific information on the I/O device, thereby acquiring the VF specific information based on the acquired virtual device name; transmitting, the acquired VF specific information to the host; referring, by the host, to I/O correspondence information retaining a slot number of a slot in which the I/O device is mounted, and VF specific information, thereby acquiring the slot number corresponding to the VF specific information received from the virtual computer; and identifying, the acquired slot number as the slot number of the I/O device on which the failure has occurred.

  • Patent number: 7370142
Abstract: Without setting a specific function to a disk device and adding a specific function to disk access commands, a command control method for limiting an address range to be targets of the commands to be capable of optimizing an execution order of the commands, and a network storage system using it are provided. The network storage system, to which one or more disk devices are connected and which comprises a request receiving means for accepting a file access request from a client and a file system control means for translating this request into the disk access commands, is provided with the command controller for accepting the disk access commands translated by the file system control means, classifying the commands using information managed by the file system control means, and optimizing a delivery order of the commands for each of the classified commands.

  • Publication number: 20080010364
Abstract: A blade type computer management system comprising one or more server racks, each rack having one or more chassis mounted thereon, each chassis having one or more blade type computers mounted thereon which are connected to a network. A management computer is connected to the network for managing the respective blade type computers. The management computer manages information on the positions of the respective blade type computers notified by these blade computers, based on the position information.

  • Patent number: 6014695
Abstract: When an access request is generated from a client in a network file server comprising a computer including a communication controller connected to at least one client through a network and transferring information on a plurality of addresses inside a main storage device as one packet to at least one client, the main storage device having a buffer, a central processing unit and an input/output bus for mutually connecting the communication controller, the central processing unit and the main storage device, and a secondary storage device connected to the computer, an area for storing the data corresponding to this access request is allocated into the buffer of the main storage device. The data corresponding to the access request is read out from the secondary storage device, is transferred to the buffer and is stored in the allocated area.

  • Patent number: 5926821
Abstract: A file control method by which a number of a block first allocated to a file is saved in an external memory and data and a number of a block to be next linked or a flag indicative of an idle block are recorded in each block to thereby restore the file information, and a version of each block is recorded therein to thereby allow easy access to a data block of the specified version. A number of a head block in the file is always saved in an allocated block list of a file information area. The data and the number of the block to be next linked or the identifier indicative of an idle block are recorded in each block of the data storage area. A file control program, when it is desired to add new data to the file, allocates a spare idle block to the file. When file writing operation is interrupted, the head block number and the next block number of each block in the file information area are traced up to the idle block to thereby restore a file information table.
