  • Publication number: 20200391270
Abstract: A machine for spin-forming a solid disk blank having a center axial bore into a pulley configuration exhibiting an outer peripheral pulley groove and a flanged bore bearing retainer. Die members maintain the disk blank on the machine axes by clamping the disk blank between an upper and lower die members. A power source affects rotational motion of at least one of the die members to affect rotation of the disk blank. A splitting tool, a swaging tool, and a splitting-swaging tool are moveable for engaging the disk blank and affecting splitting and swaging of the bore and peripheral edge. A rotatable inner tool spindle comprises the splitting-swaging tool connected thereto and is movable horizontally such that the tool splits and swages the center axial bore. A power source affects rotational motion of the spindle and thus the rotational motion of the splitting-swaging tool.

  • Patent number: 10626793
Abstract: An internal combustion engine or other internal pressure driven engine of the type capable of converting reciprocal linear powered motion into unidirectional rotary motion, the engine having at least one pair of first and second cylinders with each cylinder having a pair of opposed pistons therein forming a pressure chamber therebetween. Outer ends of each piston carries a piston rod connected to a pivot arm of a respective one way clutch which causes the clutch to oscillate back and forth when the piston moves in and out due to pressure or combustion in the pressure chamber. Alternatively, the piston rods may be configured as gear racks in direct operative engagement with pinion gears of the one way clutches. The clutches are parallel and spaced apart from each other near each end of the cylinders. Each clutch carries a gear on one end which intermeshes with a gear rack assembly having gears and a gear rack which drives a crankshaft and auxiliary flywheel operatively connected to a starter.

  • Publication number: 20060142102
Abstract: A pulley assembly in which either a hub or a bearing is attached in the center of one or more pulleys either by rivets passing transversely through overlapping portions of the pulley and the hub or bearing. When fastening together a hub and a pulley, the pulley has belt groove around the outer periphery and an annual web extending radially inwardly from the belt groove. A hub has a radially outwardly extending flange which overlaps the web of the pulley and in one embodiment a plurality of rivets pass through matching holes in the pulley web and the hub flange to fasten the hub and pulley together instead of using rivets, the pulley web and hub may be fastened together either with an adhesive layer or by friction welding of adjacent surfaces of the pulley web and the hub flange. When attaching bearings to a pulley an annular flange extends radially outwardly from the outer race of the bearing and overlaps a radially inwardly extending web of a pulley.

  • Patent number: 5979203
Abstract: A machine has upper and lower die members which clamp a disk blank between them and maintain the disk blank axially on a machine vertical axis and planarly on a machine horizontal axis. The die members and disk blank are rotated via a main motor which drives one of the die members through a spur-ring gear configuration or directly along the machine vertical axis. Splitting and swaging tools are positioned to move along the machine horizontal axis to form the disk blank outer peripheral edge into a pulley groove while a splitting-swaging tool carried within a chamber formed by the die members splits and swages a disk blank bore to form upper and lower bearing retaining flanges. Various means for moving the splitting-swaging tool off of the machine vertical axis to a parallel axis are disclosed as well as various means for exact positioning of the disk blank axially on the machine vertical axis.

  • Patent number: 4416648
Abstract: A device for tensioning the endless drive belt for vehicle accessories. A housing is mounted in a fixed position adjacent the drive belt. A shaft assembly is slidably mounted in an axial bore formed in the housing and includes a stub shaft portion extending outwardly from the housing through a slot formed in one of the housing walls. An idler pulley is rotatably mounted on the stub shaft and is moved into tensioning engagement with the drive belt by a compression coil spring which is adjustably mounted in the housing bore by a spring guide. The spring slidably moves the shaft assembly in a belt tensioning direction within the housing bore. Concavely curved surfaces are formed in certain areas of the shaft assembly within the housing. Roller means are interposed between and are biased by a spring into a wedging relationship with the curved shaft surfaces and adjacent housing walls.

  • Patent number: 4402677
Abstract: A device for tensioning the endless drive belt for vehicle accessories. An L-shaped housing is mounted in a fixed position adjacent the drive belt. A stub shaft is slidably mounted on the housing and has an idler pulley rotatably mounted on an extended end of the shaft. A pair of cam plates having mutually engageable camming surfaces are slidably mounted in the housing. One of the plates is operatively engaged with the stub shaft and imparts sliding movement to the shaft for moving the idler pulley into tensioning engagement with the drive belt. A compression spring biases the camming plates into sliding engagement with each other moving the pulley toward tensioning engagement with the drive belt. The included angles of the cam plate camming surfaces equal 90.degree.
