Abstract: A virtual reality data presentation system capable of improving naturalness of the system operation and data presentation. In the system, 3D model is presented according to 3D model data; input data for manipulating objects in the presented 3D model is entered; and a presentation of the 3D model is controlled according to the 3D model data, the entered input data, and control data specifying reactions of the objects in the presented 3D model with respect to the entered input data. In addition, in the system, real object data are obtained from actual objects represented by the objects in the 3D model; and a presentation of the presented 3D model is controlled to selectively present selected ones of the objects in the 3D model in terms of the obtained real object data.

Abstract: A data storage means stores data in a predetermined information form. An information retrieval means retrieves the data stored in the data storage means. A reception means receives an information disclosure demand from a demander, a response rule storage means for storing general knowledge for generating a response responding to the demander and a personal relationship information associated with a unique personal relationship between a user having the data on an information provider side and a user on an information demander side. A response plan formation means, responsive to the demand received by the reception means, plans a response for exhibiting, to the information demander, data obtained by causing the retrieval means to retrieve the data stored in the data storage means on the basis of the knowledge and the personal relationship information stored in the response rule storage means.

Abstract: A data retrieval system capable of carrying out the retrieval using the secondary information of the primary data to be retrieved such as environmental information or structural information as the retrieval key. In the system, the primary data which are filing target to be stored and retrieved are stored in a first memory while secondary information associated with the primary data, which are not directly related with data content of the primary data, are stored in a second memory in correspondence to the primary data stored in the first memory. Then, when a retrieval key specifying a desired retrieval of the primary data from the first memory is entered, the secondary information is selected from the second memory in accordance with the retrieval key, and the primary data corresponding to the secondary information selected in accordance with the retrieval key is retrieved and outputted as a retrieval result.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for document formatting, capable of reflecting the preference of the operator and overall balance, such that the desired formatting can be obtained efficiently without tedious post-processing operations. In the apparatus, document data representing the document, including figure data representing figure elements of the document, and region data indicating layout regions to which the document is to be laid out, are inputted, candidate layouts for each figure element to be laid out are generated, one of the generated candidate layouts is selected, and the document is formatted in the layout region, according to the selected one of the candidate layouts.

Abstract: An evaluation system which can quantitatively evaluate a virtually produced workspace by adequately providing conditions of an operator and the workspace. The system calculates a motion of the operator on the basis of the input conditions of the operator and the workspace, and a task sequence in the workspace, and displays data for evaluation of the calculated motion of the operator.

Abstract: A 3D dynamic image production system capable of automatically producing the appropriate viewpoint data for observing the target object. In this system, object data indicating objects and viewpoint data indicating a viewpoint are inputted, and an imaging target object to be imaged is specified. Then, whether a blocking of a viewing axis with respect to the imaging target object by another object is judged, where the viewing axis is determined according to the viewpoint data, and the viewpoint data is changed when it is judged that the viewing axis is blocked. The 3D dynamic image of the imaging target object is then produced according to a new viewing axis determined from the changed viewpoint data.

Abstract: A drawing information presentation apparatus has a memory for storing data representing a plurality of drawings, including text labels, and a concept dictionary memory for storing synonyms and connection relation for terms used in the text labels. A correspondence analysis section analyzes correspondence relation of elements of two drawings by referring to data of the concept dictionary memory. Then, a display section displays elements of a first drawing in a manner which demonstrates those elements of the first drawing which correspond to elements of the second drawing, from those elements of the first drawing which do not so correspond, in accordance with the analysis performed by the correspondence analysis section. The apparatus also comprises a drawing description analysis section for extracting drawing titles from document information, and for analyzing the correspondence relationship of the drawing titles between two drawings, by referring to date of the concept dictionary memory.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for editing a document to automatically produce a satisfactory, well ordered layout which includes the steps of (a) extracting characteristic quantities which characterize different elements of the document; (b) deriving relationships among the different elements of the document in accordance with the characteristic quantities; (c) determining a layout of the different elements of the document in accordance with the relationships; and (d) processing the document in accordance with the layout.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for formatting a document containing command codes indicating prescribed commands concerning a structural function, which are simply manipulatable as well as consistently correct. The method includes the steps of: structurally analyzing the document and deriving structural information from the document; detecting command codes and adjusting the analysis in accordance with the indications of the command codes; and formatting the document in accordance with the structural information. An apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.

Abstract: A document processing system includes an input section, a memory section, a text analyzing section, an image identifying section, an image size identifying section, a layout processing section, and an output section. Document data is constituted by text data and image data. The test data includes key information corresponding to the image data, and the image data is laid out in the document data. The text data and image data input through the input section are stored in the memory section. The text analyzing section identifies a position in the document data at which the image data is to be laid out, based on a position of key information in the text data. The image identifying section identifies image data corresponding to the key information. The image size identifying section identifies an image size of the image data identified by the image identifying section.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for generating patterns of images, sounds, documents, or graphics by processing data indicating the patterns to be generated, which can produce patterns in accordance with the personal preference and inclination of a user and which can be operated in a simple manner. The method includes the steps of processing input data, extracting feature data indicating physical features of the pattern, allowing a user to enter subjective evaluation values indicating the user's evaluation for characterizing quantities defined in terms of the physical features, deriving objective evaluation values indicating the apparatus' evaluation for the characterizing quantities with respect to prescribed reference values, determining pattern evaluation values in accordance with the subjective evaluation values and the objective evaluation values, adjusting the manner of processing in accordance with the pattern evaluation values, and re-processing the input data in the adjusted manner.

Abstract: A method for formatting document in which document data and format data are given independently and in which these data can be managed very efficiently. The method includes the steps of (a) entering document data representing a document to be formatted having a title; (b) identifying a subject field to which the document belongs by searching a key work characterizing the subject field; and (c) formatting the document in one of plurality of different types of format prescribed in accordance with the identified subject field. An apparatus for performing this method is also disclosed.

Abstract: A document processing system for laying out text data and image data referred to in the text data, thereby forming a document data. The system comprises a format-data storage section, a reference-data storage section, and a layout section. The format-data storage section stores format data including region-attribute data specifying an image-layout inhibited region in which to lay out no image data. The reference-data storage section stores reference data representing the relationship between the image data and an image-referring part of the text data in which the image data is referred to. The layout section lays out the text data in accordance with the region-attribute data and the reference data, and lays out the image data outside the image-layout inhibited region specified by the region-attribute data, in accordance with the reference data, thereby to form document data.
