  • Patent number: 11229544
Abstract: Parastomal hernia support devices are disclosed herein. A parastomal hernia support device configured in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can include, for example, a support assembly including a generally rigid outer portion and a generally flexible inner portion having an aperture configured to be aligned with a stoma of the user. In some embodiments, the support assembly includes a tensioning assembly that can be actuated by the user to adjust the tension in a non-elastic strap that secures the support assembly against the user. For example, the user can increase the tension in the strap to add support to the peristomal tissues proximate the stoma to reduce the likelihood of the user developing a parastomal hernia.

  • Patent number: 10966775
Abstract: A medical device for treating and analyzing tissue includes a plasma applicator having a housing. The housing includes a substantially tubular shape and defines a lumen therethrough. The lumen is in fluid communication with an ionizable media source configured to supply ionizable media thereto. The applicator also includes one or more electrodes coupled to the housing. The electrodes are adapted to couple to a power source configured to energize the electrodes to ignite the ionizable media to form a plasma plume for treating tissue. The device also includes an effluent-collection attachment coupled to the plasma applicator. The effluent-collection attachment is configured to collect a portion of a plasma effluent.

  • Publication number: 20110020779
Abstract: Software tools, methods and apparatus for objectively assessing surgical and medical procedural skills are described. Data corresponding to performance of a manipulative task by a subject is modeled using Markov modeling techniques and compared with stored models corresponding to each of a plurality of proficiency levels. A particular proficiency level is selected based on proximity of the subject data relative to each of the stored models.

  • Patent number: 6173715
Abstract: An anatomical marker uses a permanent magnet to indicate a selected location within a patient. The magnet is enclosed within a non-degradable envelope and is coupled to a retention member that is preferably manufactured from a biodegradable material, such as a polyglucuronic acid based material. The retention member may include one or more barbs to retain the anatomical marker in the selected location. An insertion tool, usable with an endoscope, can insert the anatomical marker. A retention magnet is fixedly attached to the insertion tool and holds the anatomical marker in place due to the attractive magnetic forces between the retention magnet and the marker magnet in the non-biodegradable envelope.
