Patent number: 9446975Abstract: Systems and methods for treating carbon-containing waste materials include a gasifying system, a drier system for pre-drying the material, and an energy-recovery system for recovering waste heat and/or producer gas from the gasifying system/method for use in pre-drying the material. The energy-recovery system can include a recirculation system for recovering the waste heat and/or a thermal oxidizer or other combustion device for burning the producer gas, along with a heat-transfer-loop for transferring the recovered heat energy to the drier for pre-drying the material. In another aspect of the invention, the gasifying systems and methods use a thermal-screw conveyor with a product chamber and rotary thermal screws, and an oxygen-delivery system configured for delivering oxygen into the product chamber for immediate absorption into the material, with or without the dryer system and/or the energy-recovery system.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2012Date of Patent: September 20, 2016Assignee: THERMA-FLITE, INC.Inventors: Robert Nickerson, Mike Potter, John Whitney

Patent number: 9241877Abstract: A pill counting tray for counting pills. The pill counting tray includes a digital counter with a sensor that can digitally count the pills as they are being moved by a wand on the tray. The pill counting tray also includes a number of small evenly spaced terrain domes on one part of the tray to prevent the pills from clumping or clustering. The pill counting tray also includes a hinged return funnel that inclines upward when the pill counting tray is placed on a counter during counting, such that the hinged funnel creates a backstop to prevent pills from rolling off of the tray. The hinged funnel will rotate downward when the pill counting tray is lifted to ease the return of excess pills to the stock bottle. A portion of the surface of the hinged funnel also includes a number of spaced terrain domes.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2013Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Inventors: Byron Scott Burton, Mike Potter, Guy Marsden

Patent number: 8036857Abstract: A design modelling system for operating on disparate data models in a single application is provided. The design modelling system comprises at least one source file defining a source data model, a modelling development environment module for consuming source files, and an internal generic data model transformed from the source data model in accordance with direction provided by elements of consumed source files.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2004Date of Patent: October 11, 2011Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Charles Mike Potter, Alexei Pogrebtsov

Patent number: 8010530Abstract: Mechanisms for representing multiple locales in metadata models are provided. The mechanisms comprise a locale repository for storing locale information used to display multilingual metadata, and a display module for displaying the metadata model. The locale repository has locale references for representing locales, and multiple values of locale sensitive objects in a metadata model for representing locale values of the objects.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2008Date of Patent: August 30, 2011Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Charles Mike Potter

Patent number: 7734619Abstract: A diagram manager has a diagram handler and a lineage handler. The diagram handler presents to a user a diagram representing relations between query subjects in a metadata model. The lineage handler changes presentation of a selected query subject to show one or more corresponding query subjects that are represented by the selected query subject.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2005Date of Patent: June 8, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Ralf Vierich, James Ivan McAvoy, Charles Mike Potter

Patent number: 7529730Abstract: In cases where two or more database tables can be joined by more than one relationship or criterion on the row values of selected columns, to produce what is effectively a wider table, there may result an ambiguity of which join should be used. The invention provides a means of join disambiguation that is rule-driven. The user is relieved of understanding the details of how the disambiguation is being done. The system described in this invention makes the choice of which join to use based on clear transformation rules which relate to folders of the tables and their relationships.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2003Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Charles Mike Potter, Glen Michael Seeds, Henk Cazemier

Patent number: 7243106Abstract: The invention, when incorporated in a drill-through modeling tool (DMT), allows all the elements affecting drill-through behavior to be aggregated in a single structure or set of structures, thereby allowing administration to be simplified, and also permitting easier integration with third-party tools. The invention also provides for graphical displays of drill-through paths for a DMT user. These displays show the parameters and dependencies of each drill-through path and allow tool users to obtain a quick overview of the drill-through network and further, they allow the tool user to confirm drill-through dependencies at a glance. Drill-through objects may thus be manipulated and maintained in a graphical manner.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2003Date of Patent: July 10, 2007Assignee: Cognos IncorporatedInventors: Ralf Vierich, Charles Mike Potter
