  • Patent number: 11984945
Abstract: A communication device includes a donor receiver that receives a first beam of input radio frequency (RF) signals from a base station or a network node. The communication device further includes a service transmitter that transmits a second beam of RF signals in a first radiation pattern to a user equipment (UE). The communication device further includes control circuitry that detects an amount and a direction of echo signals at the donor receiver. The control circuitry applies polarization to the second beam of RF signals transmitted to the UE and calibrates the polarization to minimize the echo signals at the donor receiver. A second radiation pattern is generated for the second beam of RF signals and communicated to the UE based on the calibrated polarization. The communication of the second beam of RF signals in the generated second radiation pattern further reduces the echo signals at the donor receiver.

  • Patent number: 9335904
Abstract: The patient device, designed for use by patients of reduced cognitive or physical ability, integrates with the network-based portal, designed for use by family members or nursing staff to customize the user experience of the patient. Using the portal the family member pushes user interface customizations as well as content and applications to be run on the patient device. The family member can also control the patient device remotely via the portal. The patient device collects usage data on the set of customizable interface components, and on the pushed content and applications. These data are sent as feedback to the portal, allowing the portal to show the family member which user interface features, content and applications are being used and which are not. Aggregate data collected via the portal generate ranking metrics used to aid in user interface feature selection.

  • Patent number: 6583996
Abstract: A method and system for detecting the negative sequence of three phase grid-connected inverter systems utilizes, for example, computer hardware and/or computer software to remove a direct current component from a direct-axis current feedback for a three phase current of the inverter system to yield a pure alternating current waveform signal. A first low pass filter eliminates high frequency noise from the alternating current waveform signal while passing a negative sequence signal. The filtered signal is rectified to an absolute value, and a second low pass filter flattens the rectified signal to an output signal that is indicative of the magnitude of the negative sequence current.

  • Patent number: 6359928
Abstract: A system and method for performing image compression using multi-threshold wavelet coding (MTWC) which utilizes a separate initial quantization threshold for each subband generated by the wavelet transform, which substantially reduces the number of insignificant bits generated during the initial quantization steps. Further, the MTWC system chooses the order in which the subbands are encoded according to a preferred rate-distortion tradeoff in order to enhance the image fidelity. Moreover, the MTWC system utilizes a novel quantization sequence order in order to optimize the amount of error energy reduction in significant and refinement maps generated during the quantization step. Thus, the MTWC system provides a better bit rate-distortion tradeoff and performs faster than existing state-of-the-art wavelet coders.

  • Patent number: 6178103
Abstract: An inverter circuit (10) has a plurality of voltage source inverters (VSI) coupled in parallel. Each of the voltage source inverters are coupled to a load (14). A synch signal source (12) generates a square wave from a fundamental operating frequency. The square wave generated by the synch signal source (12) is coupled to each voltage source inverter (VSI). Each voltage source inverter VSI has a timer counter (22), a microprocessor (26), and an inverter (32). The timer counter (22) is preferably a triangle wave generator that corresponds to the time since a rising edge of a synch signal (18) The microprocessor (26) samples the cyclic output signal (24) and determines a phase angle for the voltage source inverter. The phase angle and the voltage magnitude are provided to the inverter (32). The inverter (32) provides an output signal to the load that has the same phase angle as the outputs of the other phase inverters.

  • Patent number: 6169679
Abstract: A method for transmitting phase angle information between inverters in a parallel connected inverter system to synchronize the phase angles of the inverters includes transmitting a common phase angle signal to server inverters. The common phase angle signal is a function of the phase angle of a master inverter. The common phase angle signal is indicative of the absolute phase angle of the master inverter when the phase angle of the master inverter is equal to a phase angle value associated with a new phase cycle. The common phase angle signal is indicative of an incremental phase angle change of the phase angle of the master inverter in a given time period while the phase angle of the master inverter is different from the value associated with a new phase cycle. The server inverters control their phase angles in accordance with the common phase angle signal such that the phase angles of the master inverter and the server inverters are synchronized.

  • Patent number: 5150949
Abstract: A Simulated Custom Wheel suitable for vehicles having elongated studs, that can be removed and inserted without removing the wheel from the axle or requiring the insertion of a ring or plate between the lug nuts and wheel of the vehicle. The decorative wheel cover having a central cut out to clear the lug bolts, is placed against the wheel but not attached. A retainer ring having sufficient openings to clear the number of lugs but not the lug nuts themselves is placed over the wheel lugs and against the lug nuts. The retainer ring and the wheel cover are connected together to form a unitary structure. At least three new nuts are placed on selected wheel lugs extending through the openings on the retainer ring and tightened. A center wheel cover having simulated lugs and lug nuts to match the wheel is placed over the retainer ring and attached to the ring to form a complete wheel cover without the necessity of removing the lug nuts holding the wheel to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: RE33806
Abstract: A Simulated Custom Wheel suitable for automotive wheels or truck wheels is described and which is suitable for use on either Ford wheels of General Motor wheels. A unique retainer ring is placed against a decorative cover which is placed adjacent to the wheel. The ring has a flange rim on the periphery which defines a shoulder portion. The flanged rim is positioned so as to point away from the wheel, and the lug nuts are assembled in the conventional fashion for the Ford wheels. The General Motor wheels use a solid retainer plate against the retainer ring. A universal center hub also having a flanged rim on the periphery defining a shoulder portion is adapted to fricitionally engage the shoulder portion on the retainer ring whereby the center hub is supported and held only by the frictional relationship existing between the shoulder on the retaining ring and the shoulder portion on the center hub.
