  • Patent number: 4223797
Abstract: A storage tank having a shell in the form of a body of revolution mounted on supporting uprights. The guides equispaced around the external surface of the shell, along its generatrix, accommodate flexible elements whose ends are attached to the tensioning devices located on the top and bottom of the shell. This tank is durable, retains its shape in service and is easily suited for transportation.

  • Patent number: 4174989
Abstract: A method of fabricating double-curvature shells from meridional petaloid sections consisting in that the prefabricated meridional petaloid sections are joined consecutively with one another in a number required for making a shell. The meridional petaloid sections are made from a flexible material and in the process of their joining they are successively coiled into a spindle-shaped roll for storage and transportation and the double-curvature shell is made by applying an axial force to at least one of the roll ends for uncoiling the roll and simultaneously imparting a longitudinal curvature to said sections after which the first and the last sections are joined with each other. The method according to the invention permits fabrication of high-quality double-curvature shells of any volume from any flexible material, it is highly efficient, calls for low expenditures of labor and funds, is simple and convenient in practice.

  • Patent number: 4146162
Abstract: Arrangement for manufacturing spherical reservoirs from meridional petal-like flaps, wherein the base has mounted thereon a supporting frame for the reservoir, and, successively overlying this frame: a shaft for accommodating the lids of the reservoir and for rotating the latter in the process of its manufacture, and a welding unit accommodated on a support beam. The shaft is journalled on posts mounted on the base, for rotation about a horizontal axis, while the supporting frame has a curvilinear surface for the meridional flaps to be placed thereupon, the shape of this surface corresponding to the curvilinear surface of the meridional flaps, the frame being carried by vertical guides for motion therealong, to bring the meridional flaps to the lids of the reservoir. The support beam has arcuate guideways of a radius somewhat greater than that of the sphere of the reservoir, to accommodate the welding unit for motion along the guideways in the course of welding the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4145892
Abstract: A liquid storage reservoir of which the internal space defined by the body, and, the upper and the lower covers, has mounted therein a hollow post interconnecting these covers and having its internal space communicating with the internal space of the reservoir for escape of vapors of the liquid being stored, the open end of the post extending beyond the internal space of the reservoir. The upper and lower covers are hollow and communicate via conduits extending in the body along the generatrix thereof, the open end of the hollow post entering the internal space of one of said covers, the internal space of the other cover communicating with a vessel for collecting condensed vapors of the stored liquid. The disclosed reservoir is particularly suited for storing easily evaporating and volatile liquids, because it practically eliminates their evaporation losses.
