  • Patent number: 11557273
Abstract: Provided is a vehicle wheel with which manufacturing costs can be reduced. The vehicle wheel includes a sub air chamber member as a Helmholtz resonator on a well portion of a rim. The sub air chamber member includes a protrusion portion which protrudes toward the rim, and the rim has a hole portion into which the protrusion portion is inserted to engage with the sub air chamber.

Date of Patent: January 17, 2023
    Assignee: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.
Inventors: Youichi Kamiyama, Yuta Shimamura, Mikiharu Nakanishi, Takuro Hama
  • Patent number: 11230142
Abstract: A vehicle wheel includes: a pair of rail members configured as separate members from the rim and fixed to an outer circumferential surface of a well portion of a rim of a wheel; and a sub air chamber member serving as a Helmholtz resonator and disposed between and supported by the rail members. A method of manufacturing the vehicle wheel is also provided. The method includes the steps of: fixing the pair of rail members to the outer circumferential surface of the well portion; and attaching the sub air chamber member to the well portion through the pair of rail members such that the sub air chamber member is supported between the pair of rail members, wherein the rail member fixing step includes fixing the pair of rail members using a jig with the rail members spaced apart by the predetermined distance.

  • Publication number: 20200130410
Abstract: A vehicle wheel includes: a pair of rail members configured as separate members from the rim and fixed to an outer circumferential surface of a well portion of a rim; and a sub air chamber member serving as a Helmholtz resonator and disposed between and supported by the rail members. A distance between the pair of rail members in a wheel width direction becomes gradually narrower from the outer circumferential surface of the well portion toward outside in a wheel radial direction that is orthogonal to the wheel width direction. Further, the pair of rail members have inner surfaces located to face the outer circumferential surface in the wheel radial direction, and the sub air chamber member has a contour to conform with the inner surfaces of the pair of rail members.
