  • Patent number: 5722257
Abstract: A scroll compressor having injection ports 70A and 70B opened to operating chambers Vc during a predetermined period of a complete compression cycle, so that a part of the refrigerant circulating in a refrigerating system is injected into the compression chambers from the injection ports. The injection ports are opened to an intermediate pressure chamber, which is at a pressure between the pressure of the refrigerant sucked into the compressor and the pressure of the refrigerant discharged from the compressor. The intermediate pressure chamber is arranged so as to eliminate pressure pulsations therein. Check valves 72A and 72B are provided in an end plate 54 of a stationary scroll member 50. Furthermore, relief valves may also be provided in the end plate for releasing the pressure of the operating chambers to a low pressure side of the refrigerating system.

  • Patent number: 5639225
Abstract: In a scroll type compressor, when the operation of the compressor is stopped, compression chambers, for compressing a fluid, and a suction chamber are communicated with each other through bypass holes, and a spool valve to open and close the holes, so that the pressure in the compression chambers are lowered and the occurrence of a shock caused by a sharp increase in the load is prevented at the next start. Since the discharge pressure to drive the spool valve is introduced from a position upstream of the discharge valve, pressure is quickly lowered when the compressor stops, so that the spool valve can be quickly opened. Therefore, even when the compressor is frequently started and stopped, the occurrence of a shock can be positively prevented when the compressor starts.

  • Patent number: 5611675
Abstract: A spool 9 is connected to the rotating shaft 1 so that the spool 9 is slidable with respect to the shaft 1, while the rotating movement of the shaft 1 is transmitted to the spool 9. The spool 9 is formed with a first recess 9-3 of a reduced circumferential extension for obtaining a reduced compression capacity and a second recess 9-4 of an increased circumferential extension for obtaining a full capacity of the compressor. An intake pressure is always opened to a side of the spool, while an intermediate chamber is formed on the other side of the spool. A spring 10 is arranged for causing the spool 9 to be moved toward the intermediate pressure chamber. At the instant the compressor is brought into operation, introduction of the intake gas occurs via the first recess 9-4, thereby obtaining a compression capacity of 3 to 5% compared to the full capacity of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 5542829
Abstract: A self-rotation blocking mechanism in a scroll compressor having a movable scroll member and fixed scroll member fixed to a casing. The mechanism is constructed of circumferentially spaced opposing pairs of pins 9 and 10, which are connected to an end plate 12 of the movable scroll member 2 and a faced end wall of the casing 4, respectively, and which are in a side-by-side contacting relationship. The circumferential arrangement of the pins is such that, at every angular position of the movable scroll member, there exists at least one pair of the pins which generates a force in a direction opposite to a self-rotating torque applied to the movable scroll member caused by the compression reaction force. A locally concentrated arrangement of the pairs of the pins for generating such a force can be employed at the angular position which produces a larger value of self-rotating torque.

  • Patent number: 5362208
Abstract: A swash plate type variable capacity compressor having rotary valves 16 and 17 that rotate together on a rotating shaft 1. The rotary valves 16 and 17 are arranged on the shaft 1 in such a manner that, upon one complete rotation, the rotary valves 16 and 17 are connected, in sequential manner, for respective rotating angles, with circumferentially spaced piston chambers Sp and Sp' via respective intake passageways on the rotary valves 16 and 17. The arrangement of the intake passageway Pr and Pr' is such that the value of the rotating angle in a communication between the intake passageways Pr and Pr' and the piston chamber changes in accordance with the axial position of the rotary valves 16 and 17 on the shaft 1. Control of the rotating angle can vary the effective volume of the piston chambers Sp and Sp', thereby continuously varying the compressor capacity.

  • Patent number: 5252032
Abstract: A variable capacity swash plate type compressor having compression chambers formed on one side of the plungers only, and control chambers for controlling the capacity of the compressor provided on the other side of the plungers. The capacity of the compressor is controlled by adjusting the pressure in the control chambers, whereby the inclination of the swash plate is changed because the force exerted on the plunger by the pressure in the control chamber, i.e., the force moving the swash plate, is changed. Therefore, since the volume of the compression chambers is relatively small, and a higher control pressure can be used, the response and the stability of the capacity control is improved.

  • Patent number: 5249940
Abstract: In a scroll compressor, the moving scroll member is engaged with the stationary scroll member while centrally offset from each other so that they define an actuation chamber between them. When driven by the crank of the compressor shaft and blocked against rotation by the rotation restricting plate, the moving scroll member revolves to compress the fluid in the actuation chamber, and because of the relationship between the compression reaction force and the driving force, a moment is produced to incline the moving scroll member, so that the moving scroll member rises at a portion of the thrust bearing plate, the contact pressure between the scroll members is increased, and a larger driving force is required. Accordingly, the attraction force of the magnet and magnetic body is utilized to press the moving scroll member against the thrust bearing plate. This force can be generated due to the attracting force or repulsing force between magnets, or by the force of a spring.
