Abstract: A number of embodiments of an electrically assisted manually powered bicycle that utilizes a control means whereby the operation of the electric power assist is curtailed when the battery voltage drops below a lower threshold value. Means are also provided to gradually reduce the electrical power assist prior to this so as to more smoothly transition to a nonpower assisted operation.

Abstract: A single-chip microcomputer includes therein an electrically programmable read-only memory (EPROM) including a specific cell of the EPROM storing an item of information for discrimination of memory space. When a reset signal is applied for initializing the single-chip microcomputer, the specific cell of the EPROM is selected and read out, and further latched in a latch circuit. On the basis of the content of the latch circuit, the single-chip microcomputer discriminates and sets a boundary between an internal memory and an external memory during programmed operation.

Abstract: A portable, cordless battery-powered tool with a relatively small overall length is provided. A handle section forms the rearmost part of the tool. An electric motor is located below a spindle and forwardly of the handle section. The motor has a rotatable shaft located in parallel with the spindle. The handle section is provided with a switch trigger which is substantially aligned with the central axis of the spindle at its top.
