Patent number: 11978335Abstract: A method includes receiving, by a first computing device (110) and from a second computing device (118), using a short-range wireless communication unit of the first computing device (110), data including state information of the second computing device (118) and identification information for the second computing device (118). The method also includes, responsive to a distance between the first computing device (110) and the second computing device (118) satisfying a threshold distance, determining a particular template graphical user interface from a plurality of template graphical user interfaces. The method also includes determining one or more operations the second computing device (118) is configured to perform. The method further includes outputting a graphical user interface (114) associated with the remote computing device (118).Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2019Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Miroslav Bojic, Rohan Dhing, Zhengnan Zhao, Michael DelGaudio, Henry Holland, Mårten Jönsson, Ding Xu, Henry Owen Newton-Dunn, Mikkel Crone Koser

Publication number: 20220053078Abstract: In general, the subject matter described in this disclosure can be embodied in methods, devices, and program products for modifying interactions between a mobile device and a peripheral device based on proximity. The mobile device monitors a wireless communication channel and receives a transmission from the peripheral device over the channel indicating that the mobile device is located within a first zone of proximity to the peripheral device. The mobile device determines distance values between the devices. When the mobile device determines that a distance value satisfies a threshold value, the mobile device visually indicates that it is within a second zone of proximity to the peripheral device. As a result of the mobile device receiving data from the peripheral device using a second communication protocol, the mobile device determines that it is located within a third zone of proximity to the peripheral device, and performs an action.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2019Publication date: February 17, 2022Inventors: Rohan Dhing, Miroslav Bojic, Zhengnan Zhao, Michael DelGaudio, Henry Holland, Mårten Jönsson, Ding Xu, Henry Newton-Dunn, Mikkel Crone Koser

Patent number: 10969932Abstract: A preferred contact group centric interface for a communication device can be used to facilitate communications by a user. The user interface can be arranged to activate from a user's “home page” on the display, from an idle screen that is accessed after a timeout period expires, or any other appropriate mechanism that activates the preferred contact group centric experience. A user selects the preferred contact group from among an array of the user's contacts. Once the contact group is configured, a minimal number of navigation/selection features is necessary to activate any number of communication modes available to the contacts. The contact group is configured such that simple and quick navigation between the contact members is achieved. The contact group can be presented in 2D and 3D arrangements, in any number of list or geometric configurations. A pricing plan can optionally be tied to each member of the contact group.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2015Date of Patent: April 6, 2021Assignee: T-Moblle USA, Inc.Inventors: Andrew Sherrard, Warren McNeel, Jasdeep Singh Chugh, Stephen John O'Connor, Mikkel Crone Koser, Richard Paul Turnnidge, Michael Thomas Hendrick, Gary Sentman, Karl Warfel, Wen-Hsing Chang, Sally Abolrous, Adrian Buzescu

Patent number: 10467287Abstract: The disclosed technology includes automatically suggesting audio, video, or other media accompaniments to media content based on identified objects in the media content. Media content may include images, audio, video, or a combination. In one implementation, one or more images representative of the media content may be extracted. A visual search may be run across the images to identify objects or characteristics present in or associated with the media content. Keywords may be generated based on the identified objects and characteristics. The keywords may be used to determine suitable audio tracks to accompany the media content, for example by performing a search based on the keywords. The determined tracks may be presented to a user, or automatically arranged to match the media content. In another implementation, an aural search may be run across samples of the audio data to similarly identify objects and characteristics of the media content.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2013Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: GOOGLE LLCInventors: Thomas Weedon Hume, Flavio Lerda, Mikkel Crone Koser

Patent number: 10070170Abstract: A content annotation tool is disclosed. In a configuration, a portion of a movie may be obtained from a database. Entities, such as an actor, background music, text, etc. may be automatically identified in the movie. A user, such as a content producer, may associate and/or provide supplemental content for an identified entity to the database. A selection of one or more automatically identified entities may be received. A database entry may be generated that links the identified entity with the supplemental content. The selected automatically identified one or more entities and//or supplemental content associated therewith may be presented to an end user.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2016Date of Patent: September 4, 2018Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Henry Will Schneiderman, Michael Andrew Sipe, Marco Paglia, Mikkel Crone Köser

Patent number: 10038844Abstract: The disclosed technology includes switching between a normal or standard-lens UI and a panoramic or wide-angle photography UI responsive to a zoom gesture. In one implementation, a user gesture corresponding to a “zoom-out” command, when received at a mobile computing device associated with a minimum zoom state, may trigger a switch from a standard lens photo capture UI to a wide-angle photography UI. In another implementation, a user gesture corresponding to a “zoom-in” command, when received at a mobile computing device associated with a nominal wide-angle state, may trigger a switch from a wide-angle photography UI to a standard lens photo capture UI.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2016Date of Patent: July 31, 2018Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Nirav Bipinchandra Mehta, Mikkel Crone Köser, David Singleton, Robert William Hamilton, Henry John Holland, Tony Ferreira, Thomas Weedon Hume
