  • Patent number: 8372074
Abstract: A multi-articular fracture fixation device having a adjustable modulus of rigidity. The implant apparatus includes modular tensioning elements that can be disposed in a ball-and-socket linear array along a length of connecting wire within a medullary canal or percutaneously. The connecting wire includes a threaded end and a stop member at the opposite end, and when a lock nut is threadably disposed on the threaded end and tightened, at least two of the tensioning elements in the array may be swivelled relative to one another and arranged to introduce curvature as desired along the length of the array. Tightening the lock nut is also employed to adjust the modulus of rigidity to he retained during healing.

Abstract: A multi-articular intramedullary fracture fixation device having a adjustable modulus of rigidity. The implant apparatus includes modular tensioning elements that can be disposed in a ball-and-socket linear array along a length of connecting wire within a medullary canal. The connecting wire includes a threaded end and a stop member at the opposite end, and when a lock nut is threadably disposed on the threaded end and tightened, at least two of the tensioning elements in the array may be swiveled relative to one another and arranged to introduce curvature as desired along the length of the array. • Patent number: 4858001
Abstract: A hand held endoscopic apparatus consists of a body, a camera and a removable and interchangeable objective element capable of presenting an image of an object to the camera. The objective element may be either rigid, or deformable, and may enable viewing of an image at varying angles to the longitudinal axis of the handpiece. The endoscope is capable of presenting an image for real-time viewing or for recording and play back at a later time. The camera is rotatably mounted within the body to allow rotation of the image presented for viewing. The endoscope is fully immersible in liquid media, for example sterilizing liquid, and is provided with an optically transparent sheath capable of isolating the endoscope from the working environment.
