Patent number: 11916983Abstract: An online meeting system begins the process of connecting a user to an online meeting when a request is received from a user to start or join the online meeting. In response to the request, a pre-meeting user interface (UI) is displayed having a user interface control which, when activated, enables transmission of audio and/or video data for the online meeting, and prior to activation of the control, connection parameters are shared with an online meeting service to preheat the meeting. In response to activation of the control, transmission of audio and/or video data for the online meeting is enabled.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2023Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Nagaswapna Bhamidipati, Xin He, Milica Jovanovic, Artur Pawel Kania, Namendra Kumar, Rui Liang, Yue Li, Joel Harodi Marquez Catano, Abhilash Chandrasekharan Nair, Gaurav Pancholi, Jindrich Parus, Martin Petrla, Denis Postu, Rama Krishan Prasad Satya Prakash, Kensaku Sueda, Balvinder Kaur Thind, Hao Xu

Patent number: 11711229Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein improve existing systems by controlling a data processing system for generating messages associated with a communication session. A first UI is rendered on a user device that includes a text-based transcription or caption of dialogue being communicated between users of the communication session. In response to receiving a selection of a portion of the transcription or caption for corresponding via a messaging function of the communication session, rendering a second UI including the selected portion and current messages exchanged between the users of the communication session. The selected portion is rendered along with subsequent messages exchanged between the users of the communication session.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2022Date of Patent: July 25, 2023Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Dominic Roedel, Ondrej Zacek, Milica Jovanovic

Publication number: 20230208663Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein provide vocal action automation for controlling confidential content within a communication session. A system can monitor the voice of a presenter of a communication session. When the presenter indicates that confidential content is being shared, the system modifies the permissions to restrict audience members from performing actions that capture aspects of the shared content. For example, when the presenter provides an input that indicates they are going to share a confidential slide deck, the system changes the permissions of the audience members by entering a confidentiality mode. While operating in confidentiality mode, the system can restrict functionality for recording the communication session, taking screen shots, coping content, and saving content. The system can also automatically generate a watermark on the content to indicate that the shared content is confidential. The system can also restrict users from adding others to a meeting when the content is displayed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2021Publication date: June 29, 2023Inventors: Milica JOVANOVIC, Tanner MOEHLE, Ondrej ZACEK

Patent number: 11582275Abstract: An online meeting system begins the process of connecting a user to an online meeting when the user enters a prejoin dialog for choosing meeting settings, rather than waiting until the user chooses to actually join the meeting after entering settings. Starting the meeting connection process at this time allows a shorter perceived connection time to the meeting and thus reduces user frustration with the meeting system.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2022Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Nagaswapna Bhamidipati, Xin He, Milica Jovanovic, Artur Pawel Kania, Namendra Kumar, Rui Liang, Yue Li, Joel Harodi Marquez Catano, Abhilash Chandrasekharan Nair, Gaurav Pancholi, Jindrich Parus, Martin Petrla, Denis Postu, Rama Krishan Prasad Satya Prakash, Kensaku Sueda, Balvinder Kaur Thind, Hao Xu
