  • Patent number: 10563787
Abstract: An actuator with a motor produces a motive force to control a valve. The actuator includes a driving portion coupled to the motor to receive the motive force from the motor. Additionally, the actuator includes a driven portion coupled to the driving portion, the driven portion being coupled to a valve stem to drive movement of the valve between at least one of an open position and a closed position. The actuator includes a clutch positioned between the driving portion and the driven portion, the clutch being a one-way clutch to transmit motive force from the driving portion to the driven portion and block transmission of the motive force from the driven portion to the driving portion. Additionally, the actuator includes a brake arranged proximate the clutch to stop transmission of the motive force between the driving portion and the driven portion.

  • Patent number: 8783363
Abstract: A wellbore sealing assembly can include a sealing ring, an energizing ring, and a multifunctional key for engaging the sealing ring and the energizing ring. The multifunctional key can have a key body, a guide member, and a retainer stud. The key body can be located in an aperture in a sidewall of the sealing ring and the guide member and retainer stud can protrude through the sidewall into a guide slot and recess of the energizing ring. Downward force on the energizing ring can cause the retainer stud to shear away while the guide member travels in the guide slot to prevent rotation of the energizing ring relative to the sealing ring. The guide member can also aid in complete seal retrieval by locking against the bottom of the key-way slot in the energizing ring.

  • Publication number: 20130068466
Abstract: A well pipe hanger is run and landed within a subsea wellhead assembly using a latching mechanism with an adjustable preload. The well pipe hanger has a latch ring having upward and downward facing shoulders secured to the outer diameter of the tubing hanger so that the latch ring may expand radially into a groove of the landing sub. The outer and inner diameters of the latch ring are larger at a center of the latch ring than at the upper and lower ends. The latch ring is configured to contract radially from a latched to an unlatched position in response to a predetermined overpull force. The predetermined overpull force is adjustable by adjusting the radial distance between an axial center of the latch ring and the outer diameter of the well pipe hanger.
